How long have you been on Dreamwidth? Where were you before that? I came to Dreamwidth in 2013 when I got into fandom; I did make an AO3 before that, but this is the first ExtraPenguin social media.
What do you post about: Media I've consumed, exchange letters, Guardian. *g* My current fannish obsession and random update posts, basically.
Your other fandoms include: Modao Zushi, various English-language sci-fi novels (e.g. Uplift saga).
Post frequency: I attempt for at least twice a week, though that varies based on how busy work is.
Access policy: I only access lock IRL stuff (maybe 1 post per year?) so I am not likely to give access to you, but you're not missing much, if anything.

Anything else we should know about you? I like stars and space and have a degree in physics. I also drink way truly excessive quantities of tea.

I avoid actor and behind-the-scenes stuff because I can't compartmentalise and it messes with my delicate suspension of disbelief. I write fic, occasionally make icons, co-mod this comm, and post a weekly poll on important scientific subjects ranging from ZYL's fridge to Shen Wei's sleeve garters.

How long have you been on Dreamwidth? Where were you before that? Previously on LJ. I started crossposting to Dreamwidth during the first great exodus from LJ, and moved my reading list over during the last one (when they updated the TOS).
What do you post about: fandom, writing, media I consume, a little bit of off-line life stuff
Your other fandoms include: I'm monofannish, so it's mostly Guardian, but I do talk about Kdramas a fair bit. Previous main fandoms were White Collar, MCU (Sam/Steve only), and Due South/Canada fandom.
Post frequency: I do a weekly me-and-media update, the weekly Guardian poll, plus random fannish squee/meta, depending on my mood. So anywhere from twice a week to six or seven times?
Access policy: subscribe and unsubscribe whenever you like; you don't have to ask :-)

Anything else we should know about you? As mentioned, I avoid actor/behind-the-scenes stuff. I'm more of a fanworks producer than a consumer, so don't assume I'm keeping up with the latest fic/vids/art/whatever. I believe in live-and-let-live, you-do-you, etc, and I know how to work a back button. That said, anyone who disses the Guardian drama can fight me! ;-P

That said, fanvids have made me a solid shipper of Han Chen/He Kaixin, from Memory Lost (Bai Yu) and Royal Sister Returns (Zhu Yilong) respectively, but I have yet to produce anything for that outside my head.

How long have you been on Dreamwidth? Where were you before that? Came over during the LJ migration, got lured over to tumblr when most of my fandom didn't make the jump. Only recently got back into posting over here since Guardian brought me back.
What do you post about: Media. My cats occasionally. There may or may not be blips of my various crafting, idk yet.
Your other fandoms include: SCI Mystery, various tokusatsu shows - mainly of the Ultraman variety - but not as much as I used to.
Post frequency: Depends on whether or not I have something to post about, I guess?
Access policy: I tend to grant access unless there's a reason not to. That said, this journal was friends only for a while and so most of my previous fannishness is still under flock since changing settings only covers what you post from that point on and I can't be arsed to go unlock everything.

I love Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan both, but Shen Wei just that little bit more.
Unlike a lot of people, I liked the drama's ending! I found it very hopeful, not too sad, and I thought the sacrifice theme was great. (china_shop explains it better than me.)
I really, really, REALLY love the drama. I haven't fallen this fast, this hard for anything in a long time, and no matter what anyone says, I don't think any part of it is actually bad.

What do you post about: fandom and writing, mostly - meta, squee, random thoughts or links, exchanges, wailing and gnashing of teeth when the writing isn't flowing, that sort of thing. *g*
Your other fandoms include: Before I fell into Guardian, my main fandoms were Doctor Who, Grimm and Sherlock Holmes (including various adaptations). Guardian takes first place right now, but those are still in second place. And then there are all my other fandoms, because I'm very multifannish and never really leave anything behind. All of these may make an appearance at times - Highlander, Stargate Atlantis, Coldfire, Harry Potter, or a million others. *g*
Post frequency: ... erratic, I suppose. Sometimes daily, and then sometimes there are large gaps when life happens.

Other points of interest regarding your Guardian fannishness: I've been in fandom for a long time, but after ten years of being mono-fannish somewhere else that was its own little cosmos, I still get pretty nervous and feel very n00bish in Guardian! In terms of the show, Shen Wei is totally the character I expected to be my guy, and I did spend about the first half of the show sighing "Oh, Shen Wei!" a lot, but then somewhat to my surprise Zhao Yunlan, who is not at all my usual phenotype, became my surprise!precious. It still surprises me sometimes. *g*

How long have you been on Dreamwidth? Where were you before that? I think I joined pretty early after it was launched?? I had a two year gap of not posting anything before Guardian happened because my pre-Guardian fandom has zero presence on Dreamwidth, and most people I followed despite not being in the same fandom kinda stopped posting. I would be delighted if the general Dreamwidth revival carried, though, as this is much more my medium than the more instant-based fannish venues!
What do you post about: Ooof. At the moment, mostly Guardian? Maybe every once in a while a personal update or mentions of travel? My offline life is touched by politics in a lot of ways, which sometimes means I have strong political views, but also often means that the last thing I want to do in fandom is talk politics, so, that one can go either way? I'm really not sure how my posting habits will develop after this long break. I'd say how it looks now post-2016 might be pretty indicative? IDK?

Post frequency: See above, I'm not sure. Though even when very active, probably leaning more towards the once or twice a week, not daily side.

I've been active in online fandom since 1999. I wrote in Highlander (slash) and Battlestar Galactica (het) before spending the last ten years in Akame/KAT-TUN/Jpop fandom. Some of the best and closest relationships in my life have happened through betaing, commenting, arguing over who was wrong to leave a band and Oda Nobunaga, and fannish meet-ups at home and abroad, so my love for fandom and fannish interaction runs deep.

I, um, tend not to do brevity. I can't help it, there is always a need for sub-section 2.3 explaining the conditions under which there is an exception to what I laid out under 1.4. It's just how I roll. (I'm sorry! This comment is your warning!)

Other points of interest regarding your Guardian fannishness: I struggle with coherency when it comes to meta, so fail at commenting on meta posts. Instead all my takes on the characters and canon come out in fic? The most obvious example is With a Twist of the Kaleidoscope - a massive fix-it/Everybody Lives AU which is nearly two thirds posted now. The 125k draft is complete, but so unpolished it's taking longer to get into posting shape than it did me to write it! (It's also currently on hiatus until April due to fun travel stuff.)

How long have you been in the fandom? I got sucked in when the drama is still airing, and only 4 episodes had been subbed. I remember the crazy uproar when the Big Kunlun Reveal aired in raw Chinese, and then everyone was biting their lips trying not to talk about it openly until the subs caught up, which was hilarious. It makes me so happy that this fandom is still here, and seems to be growing by the day. :D
Where can we find your fanworks, if any: None yet for Guardian, although I'm trying to vid something. We'll see. Somehow I've become more of a vidder than I am a fic writer? More like, I start a lot of both, but I tend to finish vids and post them, where fic tends to linger in draft form forever.

Probably my favorite moment in the show is that exchange between ZYL and SW in episode 13, when ZYL already knows the truth about SW and is trying to get him to admit it, and SW just can't. Is physically incapable of doing so, even when you can see that he's dying to. And SW feels so wretched, and ZYL is so gentle with him even when he's mad as hell.

SW: Did... did I bring you trouble?
ZYL: (laughs) (sighs) If you're trouble, better to take dozens to trouble my whole life.

I love that moment so much, how they treat each other with such love and care even when they're fighting.

How long have you been in the fandom? Maybe late-January of this year? It happened fast! It was swift and brutal and totally took me by storm after not feeling very fannish for almost 3 years. I knew I’d always be “in fandom,” but I really thought I’d never have “a fandom” again. This show totally made me eat my words.
Other points of interest regarding your Guardian fannishness: I love Zhao Yunlan’s keen intelligence and sass, as well as his marshmallow heart, and I adore Shen Wei’s 德 (“de”) or high virtuousness. I think the show was beautiful in its commitment of where it allowed their characters and their relationship to go, and it continually exceeded my expectations of where that would be, several times over. I love the SID and the found familyness of them. There is a lot of beauty and hopefulness in this show, and I find it both sweetly affirming and also profound at the same time.

How long have you been on Dreamwidth? Where were you before that?: I’ve had a DW since 2012 and was on LJ before that, in 2011, and Tumblr a little bit earlier. I’ve been most consistently active on Twitter since 2011. I mainly treated DW as a mirror until the most recent LJ scandal, which made me abandon that platform. Even after that point, I posted infrequently to DW until Guardian happened.
What do you post about: I post almost exclusively about fandom and almost never about RL. I occasionally post stuff that’s in neither of those bins, such as other TV or books I’m reading, and the occasional recipe.
Your other fandoms include: I’m pretty monofannish, and I usually remain active in one fandom for 1-4 years, without entirely leaving the others behind. I think I can accommodate this level of intensity of feelings for only one thing at a time. My fandom history has been Merlin, Teen Wolf, Inception, Eagle, and XMFC, consecutively in that order. I consider Merlin my forever home, and I find there’s a lot of overlap between Merlin and Guardian, which may be why I got sucked in so fast. During the years between Guardian and my last fandom, I mostly read original m/m romance. KJ Charles, Harper Fox, Roan Parrish are some faves, and my heart was a little broken when the person-who-shall-not-be-named catfishing revelation broke.
Post frequency: Inconsistent. Basically, whenever I have something to say and the time to say it.
Access policy: I tend to post under lock, but I’ll friend almost anyone of age.

I took a break from fandom in 2017 and sort of stayed quietly on twitter without being traditionally fannish all through-out 2018, but came back. What do you post about: On DW I post about Life, Guardian and whatever strikes my fancy, and on tumblr I stick to asian-centric media! Twitter is my free for all. It's locked just because its NSFW, not because I don't like people!

I imported my fic-specific LJ over here a few years ago but only started using the site as more than an archive during the tumblr strike, when I started to see that there was a lovely Guardian community building. I still lurk more than I post, but I'm working on it. As far as pre-DW goes, I was on LJ from about 2002 until the Russian Invasion, and before that I had a GeoCities page and my fic hosted on a constellation of privately-run archives and webrings, and concurrently with that I do in fact currently have three actualfacts printed out hardcopy fanzines on my bookshelf right now with my fic in them. Before that there may exist a self-insert Star Wars story written in pencil on awesome purple lined paper circa the early nineties but no one can prove it.
What do you post about: I don't post much - I'll be updating some of the archival fic stuff as I go, but being on tumblr really got me out of the habit of posting personal things, which I used to be quite consistent about in the old LJ days. I need to relearn the habit, I guess.
Your other fandoms include: Guardian is my main one at the moment - before that were Supernatural and Avengers, mostly, but I've kind of drifted out of those fandoms. I'm also fond of wandering into small fandoms, hanging around for a fic or so, and then vanishing mysteriously into the night.

sooooo when i started watching the show, i was a little apprehensive about the level of slashiness we'd get from the PTB - given the censorship and all - but i figured if

bonibaru could make one of the slashiest old school vids i've ever seen and thus drag me by the hair into this fandom, at least SOME of the cast and crew would be... leaning in, so to speak.

Before DW, I was on LiveJournal, and before *that* I was on email mailing lists, had a Geocities page for fanfic and listed MB size with every story link. (I was even on an email fanfic archive that sent out fanfic once a week, chopped up into email-sized portions. Long fanfics took weeks to be sent out. Sometimes we also chiselled fanfic into stone tablets.)
What do you post about: Mostly fannish things - meta, some fanfic (though not as much as I would like), some general squee. At the moment, I am almost exclusively Guardian-oriented. I do sometimes post about non-fannish things, though, partly in an attempt not to seem entirely obsessive. ;-)

I love everything about the drama, it gave me two pairings to ship – Zhao Yunlan/Shen Wei and Chu Shuzhi/Guo Changcheng, it gave me complicated and messy sibling relationship between Shen Wei and Ye Zun (and that’s one of my favorite things), it gave me SID team, and a bittersweet ending (I love those a lot, even better than the happy ones). :)

Drama, novel or both? Primarily the drama, but I'm also reading the novel and there are things about it that I'm very fond of
Fannish about canon, actors, related shows, RPF or some combination of these? All of the above! I am extremely fannish about Bai Yu in particular (this tends to manifest itself more strongly on my twitter than anywhere else) and I'm dyyyying waiting for Detective L to finally come out. I am also weak for RPF. And I love joining in meta and canon discussions and episode recaps - the nerdier and more detailed the better!
How long have you been in the fandom? Since August, but the December tumblr clusterfuck is what got me back on Dreamwidth and actually participating properly in the fandom rather than just lurking. It's so fun!

Your other fandoms include: Modao Zushi and Moxiang Tongxiu's two other novels (so good!!)
Post frequency: Only once or twice a week, but you'll see me around in other people's comments more often than that
Access policy: I don't post locked very often (I think the only time recently was when I wanted to be particularly filthy about Bai Yu and had a mild amount of shame about it) but I'm usually totally happy to grant access

Anything else we should know about you? I've (fairly) recently enjoyed Nirvana in Fire, The Disguiser, Secret of the Three Kingdoms and a bunch of other cdramas, and have just started watching SCI, so I'm always up for chatting about those too

How long have you been in the fandom? I watched the first episodes of Guardian in November, when

solo and

jo_lasalle suggested this drama and sat me in front of their tv to watch it. I watched the full drama during Christmas holydays and got in the fandom after that, when it was spoilers safe. I posted about falling in the rabbit hole here

Other points of interest regarding your Guardian fannishness: I loved Shen Wei from the very beginning, but the second time I watched the drama I couldn't stop dreamily sighing at every Zhao Yunlan's closeup. I can gloss over the poor CG and the extras bad actings because I love the story so much; the plotholes though... bless fanfic writers.

How long have you been on Dreamwidth? Where were you before that? I joined DW in late january to be able to join Sid_Guardian and properly interact with other fans. I've always been on Lj because of my other fandom.
What do you post about: Mostly about Kame and Kat-tun, tour reports and my trips to Japan or other fannish thigs. Regarding Guardian, I haven't decided yet what I want to focus on and produce as I'm surrounded by very talented people. Gifs are my things, usually.
Your other fandoms include: KAT-TUN is the fandom I'm somewhat active in. I'm interested in several fandoms but mostly as a lurker. My biggest love back in the days was Final Fantasy VIII.
Post frequency: Very random... mostly in the weekends when I have time to write down stuff that's floating on my mind during the week...

Other points of interest regarding your Guardian fannishness: I've watched a few Music Videos of Guardian edits and I very much enjoy watching the BTS and interviews of Bai Yu and Zhu Yilong.

Other points of interest regarding your Guardian fannishness: I am surprised and delighted at how strongly this fandom has grabbed me, and a lot of that is way they manage to hit my happy buttons with the OTP-ness of weilan. I'm enjoying the discussions, and activity and flail and am happy to have another fandom to play in. I've also done a lot of beta-ing, so if that would help anyone out, let me know!

How long have you been on Dreamwidth? Where were you before that? Ahhhh..... a long time? I think I signed up after the second LJ strikethrough drama? I think i signed up on insanejournal after the first one... but I have really treated it as a backup for my fairly lowkey low activity LJ accounts.
What do you post about: I tend to post comments TBH, I don't really treat it as a journal..that may change, we shall see.
Your other fandoms include: Argh, how long do we have for this? Most recently active in terms of fandom-ing would be JE/jpop KAT-TUN, Jin Akanishi, NEWS (with some fic preferences of akame and koyashige). In terms of fandoms I have been in and still have soft spots for: started last millenium in X-Files, Star Wars, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Labyrinth, Buffy, Doctor Who, Marvel Movies, animes like harutoki, kyou kara maoh, saiyuki, and a lot of other stuff that I happily flail over. Looking forward to the new dramas from our Guardian guys because they look great, and also Good Omens looks fantastic. Also Musical theatre is always going to be a place I love.
Post frequency: Comments... pretty regular, entries.....sporadic at best!

I love a lot of the scenes, and this one is one of my all time faves - the Shen Wei finds Zhao Yunlan on the floor, and manages to intimidate him with a look, clutches him when he bleeds, angrily strikes a ladder and then scrubs his handkerchief over his face..all without a word.
