Guardian fandom friending meme!!!

Our lovely fandom continues to grow beyond our wildest expectations! Comm membership has just hit 100 98 (and we got impatient)! *shameless champagne and ballooooons*

A few small notes and reminders:

  1. The Welcome/Intro post and the Fannish Resources post are still alive and kicking. Feel free to drop in at any time and say hi, or give us all your resource links (even the ones that might seem really obvious)!

  2. Lurking is also totally fine, of course! *waves to lurkers*

  3. Please tag your posts to the comm so other users can easily find what they’re looking for. In particular, it would be great if you could use the canon: drama and/or canon: novel tags, since it’s not always obvious to us mods which should apply, including for fanart or vids that use drama visuals but draw on novel elements. This is our current list of tags, and we’ll add more type tags as the need arises.

  4. You can find the full (updated) comm rules on the profile page.

  5. Feel free to promote [community profile] sid_guardian on your journal or elsewhere. (Here's a graphic and text.)

And now, without further ado...

The SID team smiling at each other, with a banner reading "Guardian Friending Meme".

Since some of us are new to Dreamwidth, and some of us are new to Guardian, it seems like a good time for a Dreamwidth friending meme. Come and meet new people! (Re)Populate your DW circle!

To participate, just copy the text below, paste it into a new comment and tell us about yourself. (All information is optional.) Then read through other people's comments and say hi / follow them as desired.

So good to have you here! Really hoping to see you around more often. ♥ (Though no pressure - I know how busy things get.)

I find it disturbingly easy to get into Shen Wei's headspace when I write, but Zhao Yunlan requires a little more work.
FASCINATING. I am the exact opposite? I have two fics I wrote in about the same amount of time - the Shen Wei POV one is 5k, the Zhao Yunlan POV is 10k. So fair to say it's about twice as difficult for me to write Shen Wei as Zhao Yunlan.

Also your fic is SO GOOD and I am looking forward to more! (We should do Sunday Six on Dreamwidth! And I don't just say that because I'm hoping for more snippets from WIPs. ...though I don't have any WIP to share other than the really long one...)

Being around more is definitely on my wish list! Well, being actively around, anyway - I've gotten pretty well into the habit of checking DW daily, I just need to expand that to posting and commenting, too. I've gotten very used to the more passive interaction of tumblr so I need to unlearn some habits. And this year has just been A Year so far anyway, ugh. :P

I think writing Shen Wei is easier for me because I already tend to gravitate towards characters who share some of Shen Wei's strongest traits (past lookalikes include Tim Drake from the DCU, Castiel from Supernatural, Remus Lupin from Harry Potter, etc etc) so I already have a lot of the mental groundwork laid. I still really enjoy writing Zhao Yunlan - especially in dialogue! - but sometimes I have to sit down and go, "Okay, before I write this scene I am going to need to spend a few minutes Thinking Like Zhao Yunlan and then I will be ready to go," whereas Shen Wei is just sort of already there. In terms of fictional characters, I definitely have a type. :D

Thank you so much for saying nice things about my fic - and we should totally do Sunday Six on DW!!! !! I am not even kidding when I say that the nice things people have said about my snippets on tumblr have made me write at least 6x faster. And it's so much fun to see what everyone else is up to! Whoever came up with Sunday Six deserves a dessert item of their choice.
