We thought it would be useful to create a resource page for people in Guardian fandom. We're not talking fanworks - but more things like galaxysoup's episode guide, the original episode titles, translation aids, subtitling aids, Guardian-related content on other websites, related media, actor information, and all that good stuff.

How do you find what you need? Share your tips, tricks and links!

(We'll have a separate post for harder-to-find fanworks such as non-AO3 fic, vids, picspams and icons at a later date.)

Also, while we have you here, a reminder/invitation to spread the news of this comm. We're thrilled to see so many of you here and people posting! It would be a shame if potential followers/members couldn't find us. (And neither of us are on tumblr, so if someone could spread the word there, that would be fantastic!) There's a graphic and text in this post to make it easy.

Awesome links! These are great. I feel like I've hit gold.

Would you all ever think about creating a Guardian Q&A post somewhere on the comm and reccing people track comments? IDK if it would work, or if there is already something like that, but it's difficult to find answers to basic questions about the show because there's no wiki or other central knowledge place. Like for example, I'm trying to figure out what the fandom term for the BCE's weapon is, and if it's a glaive or a Chinese version (my weaponry knowledge is 0), and this has happened to be a bunch of times.

I just just using this and realised it belongs here: the entire 40 episodes of the Guardian script in Chinese, but ONLY the words that came out of the Bai Yu and Zhu Yilong characters. (So I guess a Bai-Ju cut?) The 'chapters' are out of order, that's why the first one is 8, but if you click on 查看目錄 at the bottom of the page, the contents should come up on your right and it's all there.

It was originally passed around on weibo, but you don't need an account to access it on bilibili so that's the copy I linked to.

For vidding and giffing purposes I'm looking for the episodes without the hard-coded Chinese subs that the Youtube Youku playlist has. I've tried and failed to find them elsewhere.

I don't think there is a version without hardcoded subtitles? Maybe someone can correct me, but I've never seen any hint of one.

What the characters call themselves and each other

foxghost has a great post about What characters call each other (and themselves) in Guardian [the novel], including the fact that Daqing basically uses the royal We, while Zhao Yunlan plays around with pronouns and names based on his mood.

I yearn for some of you native speakers to do the same for the drama. What pronouns do people use? And what do they call each other?

Another OST source

Regarding the OST, you can listen to it on the Amazon Music app (you don't need the paid version, just the normal free version of the app) here.

It looks pretty complete, with the first few songs all the ones from the show with vocals and the rest all the background music. I...might have been listening to it non-stop lately.

Series available on another website

Guardian on Viki.com The complete series is there, with a variety of language translations. I was watching a different series, and after a set number of episodes, there was a pay barrier before you could watch the rest. Signing up allows a seven-day trial period and cancellation at any time, which should be enough time to binge the series. I chose the short-term cheapest option, $4.99 a month, and so far have found several series to enjoy from a large array of Asian sources, including mainland China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan.
Right now, Bai Yu's Love 020 and Suddenly This Summer are there, as well as Zhu Yi Long's Giving You a Dreamlike Life, My True Friend, and The Story of Ming Lan.

Disclaimer: I don't speak Chinese.

To make the subs work with the video:
1) download the frame per second version which matches the video you have
2) give identical names to the video file and the softsub file, obviously keeping the extensions intact.
3) play the video and the softsubs should come up automatically.

Though it's been a while since a last resource update, a huge one worth mentioning is definitely for the official translation and release for the novel. As of this post, the third and final volume has come out. Main info page for the English release is on Seven Seas' website: https://sevenseasdanmei.com/#guardian

English is my first language, so I'm not sure if it's been translated into other languages too. If so, please share!
