Hi, everyone!

We thought it would be useful to create a resource page for people in Guardian fandom. We're not talking fanworks - but more things like galaxysoup's episode guide, the original episode titles, translation aids, subtitling aids, Guardian-related content on other websites, related media, actor information, and all that good stuff.

How do you find what you need? Share your tips, tricks and links!

(We'll have a separate post for harder-to-find fanworks such as non-AO3 fic, vids, picspams and icons at a later date.)

Also, while we have you here, a reminder/invitation to spread the news of this comm. We're thrilled to see so many of you here and people posting! It would be a shame if potential followers/members couldn't find us. (And neither of us are on tumblr, so if someone could spread the word there, that would be fantastic!) There's a graphic and text in this post to make it easy.

Yeah, it is. But there are converters for that (which actually work, not like translators. ;)) (I can't read traditional either. I keep missing the easiest words.)

I never actually thought about it, but... was the actual original in traditional as well? I assume that this link I got is not the novel itself, but a fan post to some forum. I guess you probably have to buy the "real" novel?

Haha, yeah. The weird thing is that since I've heard this, I can totally see the "sleazy" aspect of the beard, and now I can't unsee it. /o\

(Also, the Chinese fans are WRONG. I generally hate beards, but there's the occasional person who will just look a million times better with some facial hair, and Bai Yu is definitely one of them. He does nothing at all for me clean-shaven.)

Yes, absolutely! The novel doesn't actually say anything about a beard afair, it just keeps harping on about his deep-set eyes and his long nose (Western ideals anyone?)

But I am pretty sure that Zhao Yunlan would definitely wear a beard just to spite and provoke people. It's part of his modus operandi.

Bai Yu is definitely one of them. He does nothing at all for me clean-shaven.

I am a bit biased by Memory Lost, because damn that show is awesome and he is great in it. But apart from that, yes, he looks about 15 without a beard. (argh jailbait.)

Laaaaate reply, but this is why it shocked me that it seems the general consensus is Bai Yu look older than his age. Because he actually looks... very young to me, and the beard seems like a way to make himself look older so he isn't always playing teenagers in slice of life romcoms fkfldld

Ha I agree with all of this. Deliberate image of shameless and sleazy, so much! Also Bai Yu without a beard, just no. I believe the term is Milchbubi. *g*

I found an epub somewhere, but it doesn't have any of the extra epilogs. It's in simplified, though. Guardian was originally published at 晋江文学城： http://www.jjwxc.net/onebook.php?novelid=1673146
You can usually read the first few chapters for free, then have to pay to access later ones. But with some google-fu, one can usually find at least a txt-file somewhere. I've had trouble with the character encoding, though.

ETA: I would buy the books! I just don't know how, me being in Germany and all.

I am even more mad about not being able to buy Memory Lost. I love that show, it is objectively good (not like Guardian where we all despair over pretty much every detail of the production), but the only version that we have access to is a LQ jumble of eps on dailymotion.

I want to buy it, dammit!

You know, that's not actually true. There's so much I love about it, and I'm by no means the only one who does.

You can't actually buy the books on jjwxc without a mainland china cell phone number. (It's the only way to register) I read it at novel101 because it has this handy Simplified / Traditional button at the top that flips the text back and forth.

The novel101 link has the first three extras, I found the fourth extra on bilibili and I can't link to it right now, but it's linked off of my translation of extra 4 in @dtiad's masterlist of novel translations and meta.
