Give us all your links!

Hi, everyone!

We thought it would be useful to create a resource page for people in Guardian fandom. We're not talking fanworks - but more things like [personal profile] galaxysoup's episode guide, the original episode titles, translation aids, subtitling aids, Guardian-related content on other websites, related media, actor information, and all that good stuff.

How do you find what you need? Share your tips, tricks and links!

(We'll have a separate post for harder-to-find fanworks such as non-AO3 fic, vids, picspams and icons at a later date.)

Also, while we have you here, a reminder/invitation to spread the news of this comm. We're thrilled to see so many of you here and people posting! It would be a shame if potential followers/members couldn't find us. (And neither of us are on tumblr, so if someone could spread the word there, that would be fantastic!) There's a graphic and text in this post to make it easy.

Awesome links! These are great. I feel like I've hit gold.

Would you all ever think about creating a Guardian Q&A post somewhere on the comm and reccing people track comments? IDK if it would work, or if there is already something like that, but it's difficult to find answers to basic questions about the show because there's no wiki or other central knowledge place. Like for example, I'm trying to figure out what the fandom term for the BCE's weapon is, and if it's a glaive or a Chinese version (my weaponry knowledge is 0), and this has happened to be a bunch of times.

Oh, cool. I suppose I'm just afraid of spamming the comm, but this fandom is so dang welcoming and nice. Still, seems like I have a question every other minute. Looks like china_shop weighed in on the weapon below. Although I've since realized he has an array of weapons. *sigh*

FWIW, I spent an hour on wikipedia/google image search last year and concluded it was a podao/pudao, but I've mostly been using "glaive" anyway, so people will know what I'm talking about. :-)

Ooh thank you! I was kind of wrestling between pudao and guandao, and I still don't REALLY understand how they're different. But then I ended up using glaive anyway for the reason you mentioned, so glad I'm not alone.

Also there are just not enough searchable pictures of the BCE online and it is a crime.

Yeah, I always end up making my own screencaps for reference, which takes time...

FTR, I was talking about this with my partner, and he claimed "glaive" is just another word for sword. The dictionary agrees with him, but wikipedia thinks a glaive is a polearm (which is a category that includes pudao). Argh!

Hmm. The plot thickens. Well, if I image search glaive, I see more of something that looks like Shen Wei's weapon, and also when I crowdsourced it on Twitter, a few people insta-responded "glaive." So I think maybe glaive is ok, but possibly pudao is more accurate. We need a Chinese weapons specialist in the fandom!
