Our lovely fandom continues to grow beyond our wildest expectations! Comm membership has just hit 100 98 (and we got impatient)! *shameless champagne and ballooooons*

A few small notes and reminders:

1. The Welcome/Intro post and the Fannish Resources post are still alive and kicking. Feel free to drop in at any time and say hi, or give us all your resource links (even the ones that might seem really obvious)!


2. Lurking is also totally fine, of course! *waves to lurkers*


3. Please tag your posts to the comm so other users can easily find what they’re looking for. In particular, it would be great if you could use the canon: drama and/or canon: novel tags, since it’s not always obvious to us mods which should apply, including for fanart or vids that use drama visuals but draw on novel elements. I like: Slash and het, depending on the fandom. (I've been in het fandoms for most of my fandom career, but I moved into slash around 2013.)

Guardian-specific stuff
Drama, novel or both? Drama, please! (Though... there are elements I would change if I could. I guess that's what fic is for, right? ^^)
Fannish about canon, actors, related shows, RPF or some combination of these? Canon. My other main fandom is RPF, so I don't have a squick about that or anything, but that's not really my focus with Guardian. Real humans are too uncooperative. : )
How long have you been in the fandom? A month or two? I watched the series in the fall, but am only recently checking out the online community.
Where can we find your fanworks, if any: AO3 is the best place. Most of the slashfic that's on my AO3 is also on LJ/Dreamwidth. If you're interested in my older het fandoms, most of my work on those would be at ff.net (where I posted as FrameofMind).
Other points of interest regarding your Guardian fannishness: I'm mostly a lurker at the moment, but I'm toying with a few fic ideas. We'll see what happens! (Also, I'm married to jo_lasalle -- she's more chatty on the comms than I am, so you might have seen her around. : )

Posting habits
How long have you been on Dreamwidth? Where were you before that? I think I've technically been on Dreamwidth since around 2013, but it's only been a mirror of my LJ so far. In terms of using it for its own sake, I'm a newbie.
What do you post about: In the past, I've mostly posted chapters of fanfiction. Going forward, we'll see!
Your other fandoms include: I've been writing in the Akame/KAT-TUN fandom since 2013. Before that, my main fandoms were het pairings for a few different anime/manga series, primarily Inuyasha, Rurouni Kenshin, and Ranma 1/2.
Post frequency: Erratic. : )
Access policy: Nonexistent? (I don't tend to post much in terms of hidden/personal things, so generally I'm open to the public!)

Anything else we should know about you? Nothing in particular! I'm more of a fanfic reader/writer than a meta-poster, so that's where you're most likely to see me. Assuming I manage to get these two dudes to cooperate and do something interesting one of these days... : )

Ahh, awesome! Yeah, it's been a bit of a bumpy road for them since 2013. ^__^ Kame is still very Kamenashi though! : )

It's true! Yeah, a lot of established JE bands have been sailing into rough waters recently (SMAP and T&T have disbanded, Arashi is retiring, Kanjani and Tokio both lost members...), so the fact that they're still standing at this point is an achievement in itself. And I enjoy Kame's dramas too! He's been leaning more into the detective/spy genre lately, which has been a lot of fun. : )

Yeah, Tsubasa had health issues that made it difficult for him to perform on stage and Tackey was just recently named Johnny's successor (I know it sounds like a fanfic plot, but I swear I'm not making that up : ) and retired from being a talent to move to the production side. Arashi are still active for now, but they've announced they're going on "indefinite hiatus" two years from now. As for the others, Yamaguchi had to leave Tokio because of a harassment scandal involving an underage girl (><), and Subaru left Kanjani because he wanted to have a solo career in another style of music (enka, I'd assume). There are rumors that Ryo might be thinking of leaving Kanjani too, but as far as I know that's not substantiated yet... >_>

V6 is still good!! At least, I think so -- I don't remember any big scandals coming from their direction lately... ^^

Ooh interesting, what made you move into slash? Was it the chemistry between characters or something else?

Ha—it’s a long story. I sort of backed my way into it, I guess? : ) I started getting involved in the KAT-TUN fandom because I’d been enjoying watching one of the lead singers (Kazuya Kamenashi) in various Japanese dramas—and I discovered in the process that there was a really strong subset of the fandom that shipped him with the other lead singer of the band (Jin Akanishi). So throughout all the fannish conversations about the band there were these side references to the pairing and to various fanfics about them—and eventually I read one of them (written by solo and jo_lasalle, as it happens). I was fully expecting it to not be my thing, but it turned out it… really, really was. ^__^

I think the main reason I’d never gotten into slash before that was because I strongly gravitated toward official pairings—like, I wanted to ship the people that the actual *show*(/book/whatever) thought should be together, and not just the ones I might think should be together. (Because if I shipped the same people the show shipped, then I would get lots of nice scenes and dramatic tension, and if I shipped some other pairing I would be setting myself up for disappointment. I’m pragmatic like that. ^^) That, and my erroneous assumption that I wouldn’t really be able to relate to a pairing that didn’t have a woman in it. Which was just silly in hindsight, because it’s not like I only saw every interaction in a straight pairing through the woman’s eyes, but there you go. I also (at the time) identified as straight, and I tended to feel weird about writing or reading in fandoms that involved live-action drama, much less real people used as characters.

And then I found myself in an RPF fandom about two Japanese dudes in glitter pants, and it turned out I was more flexible and open-minded than I thought… ^^
