Our lovely fandom continues to grow beyond our wildest expectations! Comm membership has just hit 100 98 (and we got impatient)! *shameless champagne and ballooooons*

A few small notes and reminders:

1. The Welcome/Intro post and the Fannish Resources post are still alive and kicking. Feel free to drop in at any time and say hi, or give us all your resource links (even the ones that might seem really obvious)!


2. Lurking is also totally fine, of course! *waves to lurkers*


3. Please tag your posts to the comm so other users can easily find what they’re looking for. In particular, it would be great if you could use the canon: drama and/or canon: novel tags, since it’s not always obvious to us mods which should apply, including for fanart or vids that use drama visuals but draw on novel elements. This is our current list of tags, and we’ll add more type tags as the need arises.

I like: In Guardian, mainly slash and gen (depending on one's definition of gen I guess); elsewhere, I like gen, slash, and femslash. My favorite genre is worldbuilding.

Guardian-specific stuff
Drama, novel or both? Drama! I love the sci-fi worldbuilding, and disapprove of attempts to merge the canons into a single inconsistent hodgepodge.
Fannish about canon, actors, related shows, RPF or some combination of these? Canon only. (Though BTS stuff of the actors can spark inspiration on occasion.)
How long have you been in the fandom? Since October, so 5-ish months?
Where can we find your fanworks, if any: Fics on AO3, icons on DW, other stuff like the occasional fanmix or meta also on DW.
Other points of interest regarding your Guardian fannishness: I host the episode by episode rewatchalong, and have more fic ideas than time to write. *g*

Posting habits
How long have you been on Dreamwidth? Where were you before that? I came to Dreamwidth in 2013 when I got into fandom; I did make an AO3 before that, but this is the first ExtraPenguin social media.
What do you post about: Media I've consumed, exchange letters, Guardian. *g* My current fannish obsession and random update posts, basically.
Your other fandoms include: Modao Zushi, various English-language sci-fi novels (e.g. Uplift saga).
Post frequency: I attempt for at least twice a week, though that varies based on how busy work is.
Access policy: I only access lock IRL stuff (maybe 1 post per year?) so I am not likely to give access to you, but you're not missing much, if anything.

Anything else we should know about you? I like stars and space and have a degree in physics. I also drink way truly excessive quantities of tea.

Random Guardian
I insert two BTS gifs! Bai Yu in Zhao Yunlan garb yoinks the hair/wig of Zhu Yilong in Ye Zun garb. It's adorable. Yoink one. Yoink two.

I've enjoyed all your episode rewatch posts so much! I am a big tea drinker too, although now I'm only drinking herbal teas after giving up most caffeine.

Yay! I'm glad you like them. They're a few hours of work (a surprisingly large chunk of which is uploading the screencaps to imgur, lol), so any response is very heartening.

How is imgur as a host? I used to use photobucket back in the day, before they started screwing the userbase over and I'd love something more straightforward than DW's current uploader. (I miss being able to upload straight into posts. ;-;)

It's decent, though IIRC nsfw images aren't allowed, but you might want to check the terms of service. Its major flaw is that it will reorder the images you upload, and one of the features it has is that it'll be super duper slow/just plain not upload if you try to upload too many megs of image at the same go, so I have to upload the screencap albums 3-5 images at a time. (100 × 100px icons, I can upload 50 in one go, no problem; it just rearranges them.) Even in small batches, it'll occasionally freeze uploads at 3%, which can only be cured with a refresh – since I want all the screencaps in one album, I made an account to I can continue adding to the same album after refreshing.

The actual interfaces for uploading and rearranging are decent. Just be sure to not click the rearrange button if there's images less than 100% uploaded, and only add annotations/text on images that are completely uploaded, lest imgur lose it.

Well, if it's dark, it's dark, though we do have clocks and stars, in addition to our deep snowbanks. And in summer, we do it the other way 'round, with there being no darkness and thus no sense of time.
