Our lovely fandom continues to grow beyond our wildest expectations! Comm membership has just hit 100 98 (and we got impatient)! *shameless champagne and ballooooons*

A few small notes and reminders:

1. The Welcome/Intro post and the Fannish Resources post are still alive and kicking. Feel free to drop in at any time and say hi, or give us all your resource links (even the ones that might seem really obvious)!

Drama, novel or both? Drama! I like drama!SW more than novel!SW.
Fannish about canon, actors, related shows, RPF or some combination of these? Canon mostly, although do I love Zhu Yi Long and Bai Yu and think their dynamic is adorable. Someone on tumblr had a joke about, "Sir! That's my emotional support co-star." which I think about sums it up lol.
How long have you been in the fandom? I got sucked in when the drama is still airing, and only 4 episodes had been subbed. I remember the crazy uproar when the Big Kunlun Reveal aired in raw Chinese, and then everyone was biting their lips trying not to talk about it openly until the subs caught up, which was hilarious. It makes me so happy that this fandom is still here, and seems to be growing by the day. :D
Where can we find your fanworks, if any: None yet for Guardian, although I'm trying to vid something. We'll see. Somehow I've become more of a vidder than I am a fic writer? More like, I start a lot of both, but I tend to finish vids and post them, where fic tends to linger in draft form forever.

Posting habits
How long have you been on Dreamwidth? Where were you before that? Been on dreamwidth since about when it came out, I think? Migrated over during the lj exodus, stopped using dw when everyone went to tumblr instead. I'm glad people are back! And feels like here to stay, for now atleast. I like it here, and I LOVE COMMS. Comms are my favorite thing about lj/dw and what I missed the most from tumbrl.
What do you post about: Vids, fic, recs, some meta
Your other fandoms include: Nirvana in Fire, Blacks Sails, One Piece, Marvel movies
Post frequency: Not super frequent these days.

Probably my favorite moment in the show is that exchange between ZYL and SW in episode 13, when ZYL already knows the truth about SW and is trying to get him to admit it, and SW just can't. Is physically incapable of doing so, even when you can see that he's dying to. And SW feels so wretched, and ZYL is so gentle with him even when he's mad as hell.

SW: Did... did I bring you trouble?
ZYL: (laughs) (sighs) If you're trouble, better to take dozens to trouble my whole life.

I love that moment so much, how they treat each other with such love and care even when they're fighting.

ZYL/SW are like in my Top 5 Fictional Relationships That Would Actually Work in Real Life, all down to the fact that they know how to fight with each other and still be loving to each other at the same time. It's so..... healthy. How unusual for tv/movies!

this TRUTH! i love the core of their relationship so much. they so genuinely fit together - not without effort, it's a surprisingly realistic portrayal - and make each other better by being together, and it's such a beautiful thing to behold.

I love how gentle ZYL is with SW too--even when he's mad and frustrated, he still gives SW his trust.

I keep meaning to watch Black Sails but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Black Sails is so good! Swashbuckling bisexuals on the high seas fighting to overthrow colonialism! What's not to love? The moral ambiguity of the show is really compelling for me, every single character is the hero of their own story, and the villain of someone else's.

Just, you know, know what to expect. There's a lot of death and violence, including sexual violence in the first season. It isn't for everyone, but I think it's amazing. Toby Stephens' Captain Flint is one of my favorite characters of all time.

ZYL is so bad at Talking To Other Human Beings, and BY just barrels through taking him along for the ride. It's so much like the relationship of their characters, it's hilarious

And hey, you like Black Sails - I love Black Sails, it's a wonderful show and Captain Flint is one of my favorite characters ever. Now that you reminded me about it I feel like it's maybe time for a re-watch. :)

Captain Flint is amazingggg. I literally can not believe Toby Stephens never got an Emmy for Black Sails, his portrayal of Flint is so layered and nuanced and compelling. .....I have a Flint-centric vid you might like. :X

SAME! I was in love with SW from the beginning, the actor pulled me in with his heart rending micro expressions and the delicious secret identity angst and pining. But this is the scene when I fell for ZYL too.

YES! This is one of my favorite things - that they are careful of each other and treat each other gently even in moments of anger, because they are both mature adults who care deeply about each other.
