Food Obsession Update

I've been slowly rewatching the drama and updating my giant list of food and drink as I go. Its now updated through episode 6. I missed quite few things the first time around -- sorry about that.

I've also added episode headings to post to try to break up the wall of text effect -- but I'm not sure that I like them. I'm still thinking about the best way to organize this info -- I'm not really sure what the most helpful to people. Let me know if you have thoughts. At some point I will probably add some of this to the wiki, but not until I finish my rewatch.

I also did a bit more research into dried fish since many of us where uncertain if the dried fish Lin Jing eats in the first episode is normal snack food or not. I could track down that exact fish (it looks very picturesque hanging out of Lin Jing's mouth) but I did find several articles like this one suggesting that dried seafood in generally is common snack food.

Filming locations + Concept images + Drama stills + BTS photos

A few days ago, mecurtin posted a question about where the forest scenes in Guardian were shot and while doing a quick search on filming locations, I veered off-course :D

First-off, filming locations. A lot of town scenes were filmed in Shanghai Film Park. Some of the buildings in the European Courtyard part of the park are replicas of French Concession buildings (e.g. the university building is a replica of the official residence of the president of the municipal council), which I guess explains the overlap with Detective L.

The outdoors scene in the Hanga arc (and probably also the YOHE scenes) were filmed in "a mountain in Suzhou". Source: around 2:10 in this interview with Gao Yu'er, the actress who plays Zhu Hong. Apparently it was around 40C while they were filming!

So while digging around, I saw what must be concept images for the key sets, which made me realise that I've not looked at the photo archive in the Guardian drama official weibo. Obviously I had to remedy that! Most of the images they have are stills and gifs from the drama that have been shared widely but I did found some pictures that I like and have not seen before so I thought I'll share them here.

I continue my gifspam commentary of Guardian with Episode Two this time! Zhao Yunlan does some more flirt-terrogating with Shen Wei, and gets friendlier with the Black-Cloaked Envoy.
