About three and a half days left till guardian_wishlist reveals, and we're excited to see the gifts rolling in! There are only 4 wishlists without gifts!

Just a reminder that guardian_wishlist reveals are in two weeks, on 17 September (Reunion Festival).

If you've been meaning to take a look at the requests and make a little something or two, all wishlists are tagged for fandoms and media and open for receiving gifts. (Previous years' tags are labelled with their respective years, so check the plain fandom and media tags at the bottom for this year's wishlists.) Wishlist comments are screened.

Gifts must fit the requests and not include any DNWs. Prompts are optional. There are no minimums. Gifts must be unique to the recipient.

Sign up!
Sign-ups are still open on the 27th (any timezone). If you've been thinking of signing up for guardian_wishlist, you have one day left until sign-ups close! Your wishlist can be as brief or as detailed as you like. You don't need a Dreamwidth account. (If you're signing up without a Dreamwidth account, we ask that you provide a current email address.)

Requests so far cover a range of related fandoms - from Guardian (drama, novel and RPF), to The Lost Tomb Reboot, Detective L and other dramas, to commercials - and media from fic and art to meta, gifs, picspams and memes. There are no assignments, and signing up doesn’t mean you're required to gift (though of course we hope you'll look at other wishlists and be inspired!).

As well as fic, art, vids and podfic, there are requests for fan crafts, fanmixes, gifs, icons, meta, picspam, poetry, recs and resources in a variety of Guardian-related fandoms. Please take a look and see if there are any prompts you'd like to fill! There are no assignments, and you don't have to be signed up to participate in gift-giving. Anyone can write or make gifts for any sign-up, right up to reveals on 17 September (Reunion Festival).

Sign-ups are open for Guardian Wishlist 2024!

The first wishlists go live and gifting starts on 17 August. Sign-ups close 27 August. Gifts will be revealed on 17 September (Reunion Festival).

In a month, Guardian Wishlist 2024 will open for business at guardian_wishlist. This gifting fest runs along the lines of fandomtrees and its ilk, but is specifically for Guardian (show, novel, and RPF) and related fandoms (main actors' other roles). It works like this:

1. People sign up with a wishlist of prompts and things they'd like to receive. Requests can include any media, including transformative works like fic, art, icons, vids, podfic, and also picspams and meta, translation advice, related music links, lollipops, dried fish snacks, powerful ancient artefacts anything.
2. Anyone can write, draw, record, or otherwise create gifts for any sign-up. Gifts can be posted directly in comments (which are screened until reveals) or to an AO3 collection. Gift posting continues right up until reveals. There are no minimums for gifts.

It’s been really fantastic the last three years, and we're looking forward to another round to celebrate this year's Reunion Festival (Mid-Autumn Festival) - so start thinking about what kinds of things you want to ask for. (Don't hold back! Your wishlist could prompt someone to finally make the thing they've been meaning to make for ages - or something they hadn't realised they were dying to put together!)

The Mid-Autumn Festival is earlier this year, so our schedule starts sooner than it did in 2023. We'll be back closer to the date with updated rules and guidelines (all announcements and such are crossposted here on sid_guardian), but we wanted to let you know the schedule now:

• 9 August: sign-ups open
• 17 August: first wishlists posted
• 27 August: sign-ups close
• 28 August: final wishlists posted
• 17 September (Reunion Festival): gifts revealed

Your work must be complete to fill your assignment. It's fine to keep editing until reveals, but the first and each edited version must be a work that stands on its own. If you're unsure how to post, see the instructions here.

What to do next:

1. Reply to your assignment email now, so we know you've received it. Please don't change the subject line.


2. If you have any concerns about your assignment, let us know ASAP by replying to the email. (Again, please don't change the subject line!)


3. Create a fanwork for your assignment. Please make sure it fits your recipient's requested canon(s), media, pairing(s) or character(s), and rating(s), and doesn't include anything they've said they don't want. Remember that specific scenarios and prompts are optional. Have fun!


4. Post your completed fanwork to the AO3 collection by 11:59PM UTC Monday 13th May! (What time is that for me?).
   
   On the AO3 collection page, click "Post to Collection" at the top of the page. Enter your recipient's AO3 name under "Gift this work to".


5. If you need to host fanart or podfic on a different site, please make sure it's not visible/searchable on that site before reveals on 20th May.


6. To make edits to your work after posting, you can access it via your AO3 Statistics page.


7. If something comes up that means you can't complete your assignment by the deadline, please contact us ASAP so we can discuss an extension or, if necessary, find a pinch-hitter.

All entries will go live on Monday 20th May (520 Day). Please keep your assignment a secret until then!
