“Heipaoshi,” the Dijun lord said, “I regret that the registry is lost. But why is it of such importance? You know Zhu Jiu’s primary power. He cannot long stand against a Dixingren with your gifts, even with all his minions.”

“He has already done much damage in Haixing.” Shen Wei bowed. “But my greater concern is his patron. Those who have disappeared into my brother’s maw must be identified. Ye Zun’s powers likely outmatch mine already.”

“I hope not! My days here are numbered. Your plans must exclude me.”

“Alas,” Shen Wei murmured. “I must choose the harder path now.”
