Guardian fandom friending meme!!!

Our lovely fandom continues to grow beyond our wildest expectations! Comm membership has just hit 100 98 (and we got impatient)! *shameless champagne and ballooooons*

A few small notes and reminders:

  1. The Welcome/Intro post and the Fannish Resources post are still alive and kicking. Feel free to drop in at any time and say hi, or give us all your resource links (even the ones that might seem really obvious)!

  2. Lurking is also totally fine, of course! *waves to lurkers*

  3. Please tag your posts to the comm so other users can easily find what they’re looking for. In particular, it would be great if you could use the canon: drama and/or canon: novel tags, since it’s not always obvious to us mods which should apply, including for fanart or vids that use drama visuals but draw on novel elements. This is our current list of tags, and we’ll add more type tags as the need arises.

  4. You can find the full (updated) comm rules on the profile page.

  5. Feel free to promote [community profile] sid_guardian on your journal or elsewhere. (Here's a graphic and text.)

And now, without further ado...

The SID team smiling at each other, with a banner reading "Guardian Friending Meme".

Since some of us are new to Dreamwidth, and some of us are new to Guardian, it seems like a good time for a Dreamwidth friending meme. Come and meet new people! (Re)Populate your DW circle!

To participate, just copy the text below, paste it into a new comment and tell us about yourself. (All information is optional.) Then read through other people's comments and say hi / follow them as desired.

Yay, another RGU fan! Actually I can't help making comparisons between RGU and Guardian. I definitely see some significant ones!

Okay, since you asked about the fountain pens, I have to share. I *think* that one of the pens featured, that Guo Changcheng uses is this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0793SSY18/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=AXDGAAYERTGV1&psc=1

It's an American pen company that uses German nibs, but the pens are made in China. It seems like they chose it for its raw minimalist feel. I feel like I would know if there was another pen out there like this one... but this is the only one I've found that really looks like in the show! But I suppose it also makes sense that they wouldn't spend a huge bundle, as fountain pens can get very expensive very fast.

I believe there are others used but I haven't started doing my detective pen research on them yet :)

Ooh, that's interesting - I will have to think about it some more, but offhand my interpretation of Utena is very different from my take on Guardian. That said, the joy of Utena is that it is so complex and densely symbolic that it is almost impossible to say what it is actually about, beyond growing up. So who knows! ;-)

The fountain pen info is fascinating to me. I will pay far more attention to people's pens from now on! I could imagine Guo's aunt giving him the pen and journal as a little present on getting a job, and telling him to write down his thoughts...

(BTW, I noticed that the text the manufacturer uses in the image is in Chinese. I wonder if the pen is particularly popular in/marketed to China...?)

Please do tell me if you do expand your pen detective work - I would love to know more!
