Our lovely fandom continues to grow beyond our wildest expectations! Comm membership has just hit 100 98 (and we got impatient)! *shameless champagne and ballooooons*

A few small notes and reminders:

1. The Welcome/Intro post and the Fannish Resources post are still alive and kicking. Feel free to drop in at any time and say hi, or give us all your resource links (even the ones that might seem really obvious)!


2. Lurking is also totally fine, of course! *waves to lurkers*


3. Please tag your posts to the comm so other users can easily find what they’re looking for. In particular, it would be great if you could use the canon: drama and/or canon: novel tags, since it’s not always obvious to us mods which should apply, including for fanart or vids that use drama visuals but draw on novel elements. This is our current list of tags, and we’ll add more type tags as the need arises.

I know right that vid is crazy?!!

I wish there were more ye zun too, so much!! I'm tracking down all the ye zun fic I can, but it's not the same (especially not for vidding purposes!)

And seriously isn't Zhu Yilong amazing? His performances of the two of them are so distinct but also so nuanced. They're not cartoony or anything--they just feel like really different figures, and I feel for both of them so much!

oh wow, that song is a really intense Ye Zun song! Actually I've been wanting to ask you... well I'm totally obsessed with your WeiLan playlist, like I listen to it *all* the time. I actually started vidding Yo! My Saint, though it's proving to be a challenging one! But I was wondering about Running Up That Hill, and what you had in mind when you included it, because I totally hear it as a Ye Zun song. I've been devoted to Kate Bush for decades, and actually my first ever vid (on Windows Movie Maker, bad aspect ratio, etc.) many many moons ago was to the Placebo cover of Running up that Hill, and I've sort of always regretted that I didn't have the guts to use the original (clearly superior) version. But listening to Running up that Hill as a Ye Zun song has made me hear the song so differently, even after all these years--it sounds so much more angry and aggressive! Anyway I was thinking about vidding it to Ye Zun but I wanted to get your thoughts first!! :)

I love that poem! And I love how fountain pens are basically themselves a fandom too :) Mostly fountain pen fandom is on facebook, but still totally recognizable as fandom, which makes me happy.

omg i am BEYOND flattered that you like my playlist!!! thank you so much! my playlist is weilan-focused so every song on it is about that ship: the things they do, or dream, or sacrifice, or negotiate (with themselves and the world) while trying to do the right thing but also have this love if possible. BUT my take doesn't matter, because it sounds like you have a fascinating take on running up that hill for ye zun; and you should follow that inspiration! (i love kate bush so much omg. she is angry and lustful and sharp and completely brilliant; her music was formative for my late teenage self, so i try to find room for her on every playlist, lol!)

also, i'm not a vidder but if you feel like talking thru yo! my saint, i'd be more than happy to. maybe my headcanon about that song, as a duet/dual perspective focused on shen wei, could help? of course, it's entirely up to you and your process ♥

Yes, I totally figured that you didn't mean for Running Up That Hill to be Ye Zun since it's a Weilan playlist, but once I heard it that way I couldn't un hear it...

I would LOVE to talk through yo! my saint with you! It's giving me quite a bit of trouble, I have to say. I'd love to hear your headcanon. From what you say it sounds like I'm on the right track (I hope? starts with ZYL, then SW...)

I'd told myself that this would be part of my vidding-through-canon, and that means I'm *trying* to work with only episodes 3-13, but that might end up inhibiting the vid and I might have to let my orderly plans go :D

oh and Kate Bush = formative to my late teenage years too, so so much. I think I hold every musician up to her, honestly. But I've only ever vidded to her once (the Placebo cover totally doesn't count), and that was this year, amazingly!
