Guardian fandom friending meme!!!

Our lovely fandom continues to grow beyond our wildest expectations! Comm membership has just hit 100 98 (and we got impatient)! *shameless champagne and ballooooons*

A few small notes and reminders:

1. The Welcome/Intro post and the Fannish Resources post are still alive and kicking. Feel free to drop in at any time and say hi, or give us all your resource links (even the ones that might seem really obvious)!


2. Lurking is also totally fine, of course! *waves to lurkers*


3. Please tag your posts to the comm so other users can easily find what they’re looking for. In particular, it would be great if you could use the canon: drama and/or canon: novel tags, since it’s not always obvious to us mods which should apply, including for fanart or vids that use drama visuals but draw on novel elements. This is our current list of tags, and we’ll add more type tags as the need arises.

Zhao Yunlan has *a lot of lamps*, and some of them are very weird indeed. Like the one shaped like a motorcycle - and my fave is the little wire man with the lampshade head. Where does he even FIND this stuff.

His interior decorating choices are pretty strange in other ways, too! I mean, why does he have a skull? Were all those baskets presents or did he buy them himself...?

Maybe he collects lamps the way people collect snow globes - and he doesn't quite know why either. Maybe he gets them from the same thrift stores he gets some of his clothes from.

His interior decorating choices are strange indeed, though I find Shen Wei's to be also rather weird. But it's amusing to think of Shen Wei decorating his place by basically referring to a catalogue and being all "ah this is what a normal human house should look like" :D

Maybe those baskets (and the tire) were because Da Qing kept rejecting them in favour of shedding fur on Zhao Yunlan's jackets.

Yes, he probably does! It's a forward echo in time... looking at lamps makes him feel - at home...?

I can only imagine that a catalogue (or the deco at a furniture store) is responsible for some of the odd decorative items in Zhao Yunlan's place, but I actually think Shen Wei's apartment very nicely expresses his sense of style. The only slightly incongruous thing to me are the swords on the wall, which I love for also being absurdly fitting, and for the fact that Shen Wei just went with it even though he knoqws perfectly well most genetics professors don't have archaic weaponry on display. :-)

Hee, I don't think Da Qing can fit in many of those baskets, but I like the idea that he brought them because he's a cat, and he likes boxes. :-) Maybe he's also the one behind the skull. It would even make sense, for a cat!

When I first noticed the lamp my reaction was to cry-laugh and also facepalm because seriously?? Dad jokes indeed.
