Our lovely fandom continues to grow beyond our wildest expectations! Comm membership has just hit 100 98 (and we got impatient)! *shameless champagne and ballooooons*

A few small notes and reminders:

1. The Welcome/Intro post and the Fannish Resources post are still alive and kicking. Feel free to drop in at any time and say hi, or give us all your resource links (even the ones that might seem really obvious)!


2. Lurking is also totally fine, of course! *waves to lurkers*


3. Please tag your posts to the comm so other users can easily find what they’re looking for. In particular, it would be great if you could use the canon: drama and/or canon: novel tags, since it’s not always obvious to us mods which should apply, including for fanart or vids that use drama visuals but draw on novel elements. This is our current list of tags, and we’ll add more type tags as the need arises.

Guardian-specific stuff
Drama, novel or both? For now it's the drama. I've read a couple of chapters on Wattpad but didn't want to make an account just so I could keep reading
Fannish about canon, actors, related shows, RPF or some combination of these? All of these. I've started watching Memory Lost and Granting You a Dreamlike Life though I'm prioritizing my Guardian rewatch for now. The actors give me feeeeeels.
How long have you been in the fandom? Um. A month and a half?
Where can we find your fanworks, if any: First here in my DW, some of them at AO3 and even less land on my Tumblr.
Other points of interest regarding your Guardian fannishness:

• I am alternating in my affections between Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei, right now it's Yunlan


• I LOVE illustrating fic, or getting inspired by it, it's hard to do art in a vacuum

How long have you been on Dreamwidth? Where were you before that? I had to look this up, I've been here for 9 years though I used to lurk on LJ before that (some lovely people encouraged me to step out of lurkerdom
What do you post about: Mostly art, sometimes a little meta, episode reviews
Your other fandoms include: Sooooo many. Star Trek and lots of other sci-fi (and fantasy) shows, Due South, DC (an old one), Tolkien (LoR and Hobbit), Marvel, ...
Post frequency: Irregular, depending on my workload, currently a couple of times a week
Access policy: I rarely post RL stuff and I give access only after I’m sure I know people. You won't miss a lot, my fannish posts are always unlocked.

Anything else we should know about you?

I’m a member of drawesome an amazing fanart community (and I’ve successfully contributed to roping one of its mods, the lovely goss, into the fandom!) One of my Guardian pieces was actually for a challenge over there and I’m planning to use those as low key advertising for the show in the future.

Odd and lovely - that's exactly right. :-) i still haven't finishde it, because I kept getting distracted by other fandoms and also fanworks and challenges.

+1 to all of these, but especially the nonsexual intimacy. ZYL and Da Qing and their casual sprawling into each other's spaces is one of my favorite things about the drama.

Me too! I love his relationship with ZYL SO MUCH.

I also headcanon that Da Qing ended up good friends with Shen Wei in the past -- see Shen Wei's fond little smile when he first sees Da Qing in the present, grumbling about standing guard -- and I am SO REGRETFUL that Shen Wei's nap/Da Qing's memory loss took away the possibility of the two of them traveling the world together, having adventures, waiting for Kunlun to return to them.

You know, I was pondering the whole "I searched for you for 10k years" vs "I woke up ~20 years ago" mess the other day and had the thought that maybe when we see Shen Wei wake up on screen, it's not actually the first time? Maybe over the millennia he's had a cycle of sleep/wake/sleep and the drama only focuses on the last one because it's plot relevant. (There's precedent! We've seen them make odd timeline cuts before.) If so, then there definitely would be time for Shen Wei and Da Qing to have adventures in the past! I mean, it still ends in sadness because Da Qing's memory loss, but until then--adventures!!

(Admittedly, I haven't rewatched the show to that point yet and I'm sure that when I do, I'll find details that immediately joss it, but until then I am holding *tight* to this headcanon.)
