• making fanworks-finder/rec-finder posts.

Hahaha, so flirting like Zhao Yunlan flirts with Shen Wei, then?

It just brings together so many of my bulletproof tropes from every fandom I've ever been in.

I think it's magic like that! It does the same for me, and they might well be a completely different set of tropes (I mostly come from a background of buddy-cop fandoms, with some Kdramas thrown in for good measure). It's like the intersection of all fannishness or something! :-D

Last night I saw the ep where Shen Wei happens across Zhao Yunlan feeling sick on the street, and takes him home to tuck him into bed and I think I almost lost my mind.

Episode 8! I love EVERYTHING about that ep!!

It does feel like the author somehow managed to compile all fandom tropes ever and then fashion a unified story out of them. Probably the closest thing to buddy-cop for me is Arthur/Eames, but that might be a stretch. However, I definitely see that angle in Guardian. For me it's most especially reincarnation and waiting for someone from 10k years, because that is canon in the Merlin fandom (my main one). But then there's the whole Professor X / mutants angle? And Shen Wei is as finicky a dresser as Arthur from Inception. And I *think* Zhao Yunlan is human, so the whole human + supernatural being crossover. IDK there is A LOT.
