Welcome to SID Guardian!

Hi, and welcome to SID Guardian!
- linking Guardian fanworks of all kinds
- linking to Guardian-related news (incl. info about the actors and their other roles) and meta (incl. serious meta, squee, picspams, episode reactions, writing-meta)
- making Guardian recs, and
- making fanworks-finder/rec-finder posts.
- ETA: You can also post content directly to the comm.
Which is to say, it's for letting Guardian fans find each other on Dreamwidth. :)
Please link your Guardian-related posts here! Whether novel or drama, this is the place for it. Don't be shy, and please encourage other Guardian posters to link as well. You can also link to/rec things that have been posted by others.
As the comm develops, we hope to introduce social, discussion and/or prompt posts, but given it's December, we thought we'd start small and manageable.
To kick things off, if you feel like it, tell us a bit about how you ended up in Guardian fandom! Or let us know your favourite character or scene from Guardian, or what your power would be if you were Dixingren.
And remember, there's no tension that can’t be relieved with a lollipop. And if there is, try two lollipops.

It took me awhile to finish watching and I read the novel alongside it. Because my ebook reader hated the file, finishing the novel took ages (1 minute to turn a page in a 600 page document... *grumble*). I remember being hooked from the start, though. The romance is so incredibly obvious, I thought that something like that would never make it onto a screen in China and in that format. Anyway, it's been the spark that I've been missing and it's rekindled my passion for learning Chinese. I've actually started reading another BL novel in Chinese by now.
It's hard to choose a favorite scene, but I concur that the scenes in Zhao Yunlan's apartment are shipping gold.

I don't remember how I ended up watching it, either! So strange how that happens! It was already down by the time I got to it, but I'd seen the Mega link around. The first five episodes were still available on Youtube, and by the end of those I was hooked, so I immediately tracked down the rest.
Totally envying you for actually speaking Chinese, btw! I started out not knowing a single word, and everything I know now (which isn't much, obviously) I learned from Guardian. *g* I definitely wish I could read all the Chinese fanfic - there's so much of it!

That is fantastic! Seriously, ENVY.

I'm still so incredibly impressed by/jealous of your language skills!

Relatable -- my sole motivation for learning Chinese (other than heritage reasons) is reading Chinese BL novels and fanfiction, whoops.
What novel are you reading right now, and is it any good?

There's a recs post for Chinese BL novels here: https://fictional-fans.dreamwidth.org/11187.html
ETA: The novel is a page turner! Be aware that it's not exactly fluffy, though.

Thanks for both links, I'll check them out.
Sorry, this is getting more and more tangential
The goodreads link really just includes an unorganized list of novels. I've seen
I've also found out that the (somewhat less good) TV series S.C.I 谜案部 is also based on a 耽美 novel series. I'm planning on checking that one out, as well. We'll see. Based on my current progress, I might get around to that next summer ;)
Re: Sorry, this is getting more and more tangential
I'm really surprised so many cdramas (i.e. any) are based off of 耽美 novels, even if they did take out the romance. You'd think they would instead say "no, gay stuff is banned, what are you even thinking?" And who even finds the novels in the first place?
That being said, I'm glad Guardian exists, it's so different from so many existing shows!

YES! I felt the same way! I know it's theoretically bromance, but - it is so not. The entire series revolves around the relationship, and it's so passionate and exclusive and romantic (and sexual too)... I honestly can't think of any on-screen m/m romance that has ever satisfied me more.

That's it exactly!
