Welcome to SID Guardian!

Hi, and welcome to SID Guardian!
- linking Guardian fanworks of all kinds
- linking to Guardian-related news (incl. info about the actors and their other roles) and meta (incl. serious meta, squee, picspams, episode reactions, writing-meta)
- making Guardian recs, and
- making fanworks-finder/rec-finder posts.
- ETA: You can also post content directly to the comm.
Which is to say, it's for letting Guardian fans find each other on Dreamwidth. :)
Please link your Guardian-related posts here! Whether novel or drama, this is the place for it. Don't be shy, and please encourage other Guardian posters to link as well. You can also link to/rec things that have been posted by others.
As the comm develops, we hope to introduce social, discussion and/or prompt posts, but given it's December, we thought we'd start small and manageable.
To kick things off, if you feel like it, tell us a bit about how you ended up in Guardian fandom! Or let us know your favourite character or scene from Guardian, or what your power would be if you were Dixingren.
And remember, there's no tension that can’t be relieved with a lollipop. And if there is, try two lollipops.

At one point this summer all of my old Nirvana in Fire mutuals on Tumblr were all suddenly screaming about Guardian in a very, very effective sort of way.
The first gifset I saw was incredibly spoilery and made me go "I need to find out what happened to that one guy the other guy was so worried about!" (Oh sweet summer child. Current me can tell past me she's not going to like it.) (It was from episode 39. I mean not to spoil anyone who's wandered in halfway through watching the series, but. Yeah.)
And the post that got me real interested was this flailing by Lazulisong, and then the non-spoilery gifset I saw that made me go oh no I must watch this right now was this one of the taxi scene in episode 8.
Because. Oh. That tenderness...!
So I watched it all and I have rewatched most of it and also read as much of the novel as is translated (without skipping ahead, though, so I guess that's chapter 69 or so now?).
Guardian has sparked my creativity in amazing ways, and I am so grateful for it. ♥ I've made quite a few gif sets on Tumblr (including some with original poetry?? I've never done that before...), and I write a bit of fic. (Including my first explicit m/m!)
I talk a lot about the WIP that ate my life - also known as A Twist of the Kaleidoscope. It's a massive fix-it with extra everything that follows canon up until episode... well, mostly until 29? But then it really veers off in 33. It's tagged as a Nobody Dies/Everybody Lives AU, and also Angst With A Happy Ending. And after 93k words, I am almost there. Almost, but not quite! The first four chapters are up, and this fandom has been so amazingly generous with comments and feedback. <3
Anyway. Yeah, I have it bad. (And by that I mean I am so happy here!) I've got a background in Japanese, so I can puzzle out the meaning of written Chinese, but my comprehension in general is pretty much nil. My wife, however, is a native Mandarin speaker, so I tend to force her to tell me what Zhu Yilong and Bai Yu are saying in their ads and interviews, much to her amusement. (I don't think she'll ever be over Bai Yu's KFC Chicken Taco. ...the chicken is the taco?!)

I remember you posting about that at the time. \o/ \o/ \o/
Also, NINETY-THREE THOUSAND WORDS, WOW!!!!
*hearts your delight and squee, and showers you with sparkles*

Ahhhhhhh the taxi scene. And then after, in Yunlan's apartment...! I mean, I was pretty well and truly hooked before then, but that scene just. My heart. ♥
93k?! I know, it doesn't feel real to me either. I have no experience with fic this long?? But I just finished the massive parallel to episodes 38-40 (it goes... quite differently!) and it's been amazing fun. I am looking forward to being done, because I am literally doing nothing else right now - but also because it will be so interesting to see what happens. (I do a bit of plotting, but a lot of writing happens when I just let the characters run with a scene.)

And that is a way more explicable trajectory than mine. I think

:D :D :D
That is such a lovely scene. And I know it was improvised originally, but then someone decided to actually use it. Damn, these people knew how to recognise a good thing when they saw it. ♥

I'm so impressed with your creativity! SO MANY WORDS. And poetry, too! Wow. :D I hope you keep being inspired after you've finished your WIP!
(Including my first explicit m/m!)
Your first? Wow! I would never have guessed that.
My wife, however, is a native Mandarin speaker, so I tend to force her to tell me what Zhu Yilong and Bai Yu are saying in their ads and interviews, much to her amusement.
... is it very bad that my first thought at this is how much I envy you? LOL.

It's so awesome that you guys fell into Guardian by chance - it's such a lovely place to be!
And YES let's all praise Bai Yu for the taxi scene and everyone else for really going all out with it. ♥
I hope you keep being inspired after you've finished your WIP!
Me too! There's so much more I want to write!
Your first? Wow! I would never have guessed that.
Ahahah~. Thank you, that's lovely praise! But yeeah. I'm more of a gen fan, normally? And I found it quite challenging to write explicit stuff - mostly because I felt like hiding under a pile of blankets until I'd stopped blushing. (Though to be fair, it's not my first explicit fic - I do have 17k words of M/M/F/F to my name from Dragon Age 2...)
... is it very bad that my first thought at this is how much I envy you? LOL.
I try not to abuse the privilege! But just today I showed her a video of Bai Yu and wanted to know if he was using his Beijing accent (Zhao Yunlan sounds quite Beijing, normally) - and he wasn't! So now I know. (I didn't ask her to translate the whole interview, though I may spring it on her later...)

Personally, I think that the longer a story is, the better, so *yes*, please, keep up the great work! :-)

There's one moment in the taxi where you can even see something almost like a smile on Shen Wei's face. AH. My heart.
