"Ha, I was sure the popcorn would be a shoo-in, but apparently not (at this stage, anyway)."

People really like the Shen Wei options (I am people :D :D), but popcorn is doing pretty great too. :D

"I did a scene discussion post for that. /usual disclaimer, no obligation :D"

Thaaaaaank you, THESE POSTS = ♡♡♡! *giggles at "Lin Jing, being corporeal"* :D

"The last pic is from ep 15, 34:00ish, when they're strategising about how to fool the special commissioner coming to inspect them (who they don't yet know is Zhao Xinci)."

Yay, thank you! :D :D Now that I rewatched it, I'm voting for this scene for "other" too. :D

"Though I imagine the SID would deal with a troublesome gold ring pretty promptly. They know where there's a volcano. ;-D"

LOLOLOL! ♡ Is a regular non-evil volcano enough, or is this one an evil volcano? ;D

Hey, if they have space travel (do they even still have that canonically, or just in the past?), someone could yeet the ring into the vacuum. xD Sure, it's not destroyed, but good luck getting it back. xD

"Oh, but what if it's like the Hallows, and it just ~mysteriously turns up places~? /o\"

Oh yep, when the ring wants to be found by someone, it will be found, the vacuum of space is probably not gonna stop it after all. D: xD

(I think they may have space travel in the present too, without the need to mention it - it wouldn't be relevant to the SID or to any regular people after all, and even the scientists we know are not involved in any space-travel-relevant fields?)
trobadora: (Shen Wei - don't know)

[personal profile] trobadora 2025-06-12 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, it never even occurred to me that they might have space travel in the present! Surely that would affect something, somewhere in a visible way?

(My headcanon is that after the spaceship came to Haixing back then, there was no further space travel. Possibly the ship wasn't all that spaceworthy any more when it arrived, and everyone settled on Haixing knowing they weren't going to be leaving again. Also possibly Dixing still has the knowledge of how to make spaceships, if not the infrastructure to actually do so - though that knowledge might have been lost with the meteor.)

I was thinking more like current Earth space travel, which doesn't affect anything for most people, but I like this headcanon a lot - the ship doesn't work anymore, new ships can't be made anymore (maybe they just lack the infrastructure, or maybe Haixing doesn't even have the right materials/resources), but they like where they ended up so that's okay. :)
trobadora: (Shen Wei - powers)

[personal profile] trobadora 2025-06-13 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, current Earth space travel makes more sense than what I was imagining, LOL. I do think Haixing's general level of tech is about ours, except a bit more advanced in some areas because intersections with Dixing/Yashou biology and black energy.

[personal profile] facethestrange 2025-06-13 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, me too. And I can see the tech not going in the direction of time travel, if they can't rebuild it at the past level - at this stage it's not particularly useful on Earth either, other than for showing off. :P

Yeah, I was thinking definitely less Star Trek and more like current Earth space travel (maybe with some additional extracting resources or something like that, but not colonizing planets and no other aliens). The kind that is not really relevant to anyone unless it's their job or hobby. But there may as well not be any space travel at all - for the characters we know, both of these situations would look the same. :)

ETA: "If humanity had colonised the stars, would Ye Zun have stopped at consuming just one small planet?"

I can't resist this thread of speculation, lolol - how much CAN Ye Zun eat? :D :D Or maybe he would choose to only eat Haixing because that's the planet that wronged him. xD

"Would he even know about the colonised planets? Maybe Dixing is kept in the figurative dark as well as the literal??"

Oh, that would be very possible, yes!

(I kinda went from 'does eating yin energy give novel!Zhu Hong a stomach ache', and started wondering if eating vast amounts of space vacuum would give Ye Zun one. xD xD)

A planet is at least a solid object, so I have some hope he'd be fine. ;D (I always wondered where he would go afterwards tho, lol. There was a fic where he endlessly floats in space until there's another time loop and he can choose not to eat the world this time, iirc.)

[personal profile] facethestrange 2025-06-15 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
xD xD xD xD This is so wrong and I love it. :D :D With people on it, or is he just left sulking alone on a whole-ass empty planet? D:
facethestrange: (guardian: ye zun)

[personal profile] facethestrange 2025-06-15 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yeahhhhh, THOUGHT SO. xD Not much different than floating in space then. xD

I have to admit to being people too. *g*
