Comm posts, possible novel read-along, and poll

Hi, all! *waves* We had a poll back at the start of June about what to do next for our weekly discussions/picspams/etc, and then [personal profile] trobadora and I both got bogged down in Wishlist modding and life stuff. We tried kicking off a Case of the Week series a while ago, but it seems to have fizzled, so we were wondering: where to from here?

One possibility, now that the official novel translation has been published in full, is to have a Guardian novel read-along/book club -- maybe two chapters a week, with a discussion post that just contains a few excerpts. As you've probably noticed, [personal profile] trobadora and I generally lean drama-focused, and we're mostly interested in the novel as the Ur-text, and how it was adapted. But this comm is for all Guardian fans, and we’d love to see more general novel discussion too!

Like we said in June, we both really enjoy and value having discussions, picspams etc. here and just overall revelling in our Guardian love, so we want to keep having regular posts on the comm. Which means it's important to know what you all want more of (and what you'd be willing to sign up to post about).

Please take a minute to think about what you'd like to see on [community profile] sid_guardian, and what you might be willing to post about and/or engage with! It would really help us to know. ♥

I would want to join in with a guardian read-along but I am very bad at the pacing required for read-alongs. xD; I personally prefer reading a whole novel and then talking about it as a chunk, but that's not necessarily as good for continued engagement.

Do love to talk about specific excerpts/scenes from a novel, though!

I feel you about that, I often have trouble keeping up too! Glad the excerpt approach works for you, I think that's probably the way go go here. No need to actually keep up if you can't/don't want to, only read the quotes in the post itself, and you can still play ...

I have no interest in the novel, but I don't mind other people talking about it here. And I would probably read posts talking about how the novel was adapted, since this is the subject I am interested in. I mean, I wouldn't have anything to add to the discussion since I don't plan to read the novel. But I would like to read other people discussing it. :)

I expect there'll be plenty of drama talk, just because that's where china and I are coming from. :)

I just finished rereading the novel and won't do another reread so soon. But since it's still fresh in my mind I could probably join the discussion :D

At two chapters a week, we'll be at it for a while, so maybe eventually you'll be ready for another reread. *g* But yeah, you don't need to read it right then to chat! :)

I've read the novel a couple of times in the past. I'm unlikely to reread it, but I might pop in and out of discussions if it's something I remember. I'm not good at engaging consistently in discussions here anyway, so that's about the same whatever the discussions are about, really.

I printed out what purported to be the novel, but I had difficulty with the tone - every time things got serious between the character, they seemed to react very weirdly, and I couldn't get through the whole thing. Can you buy an actual book?

You can! Here is the publisher's website. You can also easily find the books (the novel is published in three physical books) on Amazon or order it elsewhere.

Fun timing, as I devoured all three volumes last month. It’s been years since I read through a story that fast. ^_^’

I haven’t been as active as I did in the past (thanks work), but I’m open to jump into discussions or maybe make a post on a scene/theme or analysis.
