First, thank you for your detailed answer! Yes I do have files and I use VLC Player. I can't find any srt files though?

Even better because they'd just get in the way.

Okay, so you open your video file in VLC, then click on the 'Subtitle' menu item, select 'add subtitle file', and then open the relevant subtitle to the ep.
