Preferred contact information: email only: TeaOtter at Yahoo.
Types of work you're willing to beta: Fiction, poetry, icons, other digital art.
Source(s): Drama and drama/novel combinations
Crossovers or AUs?: Almost certainly, but let me know in the email.
Language(s): English only, sadly
Do you feel comfortable giving feedback on Chinese language/culture?: Not past forms of address.
Feedback you're specifically good at: For fic, I'm really good with dialogue and plot (and am happy to help you brainstorm through plot problems even if a story isn't finished yet).
For digital art, I'm happy to talk about composition, color, and lighting, and can suggest techniques. I'm terrible at font choices.
If you tell me the kind of help you're looking for, I'm generally happy to focus there!
Limitations: I can't do non-con or graphic violence. I like to know anything you'd usually tag or warn for.
General likes: Being helpful! I like beta-ing as its own thing.
Anything else you want to say: I am intermittently insanely busy or off having my head explode, so I may not respond to emails right away. It's not you or your work, it's definitely me! If you have a tight deadline, let me know.
I tend to be a pretty gentle beta and focus on encouragement over concrit unless I'm specifically asked otherwise.

Preferred contact informatio: Email (mekare dot art with gmail), might do chats on weekends
Types of work you're willing to beta (art, fic, podfic, etc.): Art, fic
Source(s) Drama, RPF
Crossovers or AUs?: Yes to AUs, crossovers depend on the other fandom.
Language(s): English (my strength is in British English, so don‘t be confused if I question something grammatical that is perfectly fine in American English)
Do you feel comfortable giving feedback on Chinese language/culture?: Sadly, no. I read some articles recently but don‘t feel confident enough for feedback on this.
Feedback you're specifically good at:
Fic: Encouragement, pointing out favourite bits and why they work, spelling, grammar, character continuity (?)
Art: Encouragement, pointing out favourite bits and why they work, colour, composition, atmosphere, likenesses
Limitations: I don‘t say no to heavy topics (I once betaed a child abuse fic), but prefer not to read/look at anything too heavily gory; if the fic has character death I‘d like to know in advance
General likes: I love betaing, getting to read new fic before it is posted it a secret pleasure. Talking about character arcs, word choices or descriptions makes me happy.
Anything else you want to say Depending on my workload I‘ll get back to you after a couple of days, I‘m not the best beta for tight deadlines and superlong fics in combination. English is not my native language but I feel confident enough in it to offer beta services (also, editing/ correcting is part of my job).

Preferred contact information: I tend to use Word's 'track changes' and 'comments' features so initially email is probably best, but for discussion, chat is great. me.n.thee at gmail dot com
Types of work you're willing to beta: Fic.
Source(s): drama, novel, RPF. I think I'd be out of my depth with a work that mixes drama and novel.
Crossovers or AUs?: AU - sure. Crossover, contact me first, depends on whether I know and like the crossover universe.
Language(s): The only relevant one I have is English
Do you feel comfortable giving feedback on Chinese language/culture?: LOL. No. Really, really not!
Feedback you're specifically good at : Spelling, grammar, word choice, dialogue, characterisation, point of view, action scenes, sex scenes (ooh yes, my precioussss). I generally mix my constructive feedback with my enthusiastic feedback about stuff I like, but if all you want is encouragement or if you are particularly sensitive to constructive criticism, I am not the Droid you are looking for.
Limitations: I'll do Weilan or Zhu Yilong/Bai Yu RPF. I'm not interested enough in the other charas to beta fic for them, much as I like them otherwise. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be in the story at all, just that I'm not interested in stuff that is primarily about them. No limitations re level of sexual explicitness or violence. Won't do break-up fic, betrayal fic, or character death unless it's temporary. *g*
General likes: Plotty fic with or without sex (anything from gen to kink). Also, team fic. Anything that revels in the relationship.
Anything else you want to say: I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so if you just want a quick skim-over to fix any really obvious things, maybe avoid me for the sake of your own sanity. :)

Preferred contact information: bonibaru @ gmail, Dreamwidth PM, Twitter DM (same username); I am on U.S. East Coast time zone (same as NYC)
Types of work you're willing to beta: fanfiction, fanvids
Source(s) (drama/novel/RPF/combinations): drama (pretty much everyone) / RPF (ZYL and BY only)
Crossovers or AUs? : HECK YES (check with me first about the fandom for crossovers)
Language(s): English (US)
Do you feel comfortable giving feedback on Chinese language/culture?: no
Feedback you're specifically good at (encouragement, color, structure, spelling and grammar, sex scenes, etc.): 20+ years of practice for everything from cheerleading to spelling/grammar to characterization to plot structure. If you need something specific, let's talk! Can structure the feedback in whatever way the creator wants: if there is a preference for receiving concrit or not, for example, I'll ask about that up front so we're on the same page. I don't want my beta services to deflate someone's enthusiasm by accidentally delivering the feedback in a way that isn't optimal for them to receive.
Limitations: I prefer not to read torture/graphic violence, non-con or dubcon, suicide, humiliation, de-aging of characters, underage people in sexual situations. For WIPs I would prefer to hold off a super detailed, super thorough review until the work is done or close to done, but I can do a read/watch for overall comprehension/clarity/direction at any stage, as needed.
General likes: People sometimes say everything because choosing is hard but in my case it's true: everything except what's noted in the limitations. I am omnivorous. I read A LOT.
Anything else you want to say: The relationship between a creator and a beta involves a certain amount of trust, and I know choosing a person to critique your project can be one of the hardest things for a creator to do. Setting expectations up front is important to me: things like expected timelines for delivery, format of delivery, how much back and forth does the creator really want (a prolonged discussion or just a quick once-over?). It's an investment of time for both of us, and feelings for the creator. I take my responsibility when I agree to beta very seriously, and only ask the same level of commitment in return :) The creator is free to agree or disagree with any of my comments - if I feel really strongly about something I will push a little, but for the most part, it's your baby. I am not going to completely ignore a person's style, for example. If you like your ellipses and em-dashes, you can keep them! I am not the style police :) If you reject my suggestions, don't worry, I don't take it personally when it comes to artistic license.

Preferred contact information: riventhorn at gmail
Types of work you're willing to beta: Fic
Source(s): Drama only
Crossovers or AUs?: AUs only
Language(s): English only
Do you feel comfortable giving feedback on Chinese language/culture?: No
Feedback you're specifically good at: SPaG, structure, characterization, overall plot
Limitations: Just because of time limitations on my end, I can't do anything over 3k at the moment. Also, I prefer to work with Word track changes as opposed to in gdocs.
General likes: I enjoy editing and helping improve fics :). I'll do any rating and subject matter.
Anything else you want to say I tend to be pretty straight forward with my critiques, but I also always make it a point to highlight things I like and what I think works very well. I can also adjust the level of my critique--for example, if you just want SPaG, I won't suggest any major structural adjustments. Or I can suggest major rewrites if I think it would help and if you want that kind of feedback.

Preferred contact information: DM on DW or contact me on discord (fangirlishness#5609)
Types of work you're willing to beta: fic, art, icons
Source(s): drama, novel, RPF for Zhu Yilong and Bai Yu, BY48, ZYL48 (I have seen most of their works and like pretty much all of their characters)
Crossovers or AUs?: usually yes, but A/B/O only if it subverts the usual tropes, crossovers depend on if I know the "other thing"
Language(s): English
Do you feel comfortable giving feedback on Chinese language/culture?: A little - I have studied Chinese for quite a while and have picked up a few things, but don't speak it well and am not Chinese.
Feedback you're specifically good at: technical things: SPAG, logic, structure, flow, finding and pointing out plot holes. I am very thorough and usually spot typos everyone else has missed. I think I am an encouraging beta and always make sure to mention what I like.
For art: I have an eye for color and composition and have experience in creating art, so I can put my impressions into words (= hopefully valuable concrit).
Limitations: no "it has to be done by tomorrow", no dub-con/non-con, no kidfic, no Chu/Guo. Everything else should be okay, and I will even beta things that are not "my thing" if they're under 5K in length.
I don't have MS Word on my computer, I prefer to work in googledocs.
General likes: Fluff, angst, porn, emotional messes, unreliable narrators, Zhu Yilong.
Anything else you want to say As a beta my job is to help and support, and that works best if we agree up front about what you expect me to do. I will always stick to your guidelines. I know first-hand how hard it is to receive concrit, even the gentlest kind, so I try to always keep that in mind when I beta.
That sounded very subdued, but really: I love betaing, it's fun and I love to help and this fandom is amazing!

Preferred contact information (email, chat, whatever you want to use for beta, etc.): email, twitter, chat, skype, gDocs.
Types of work you're willing to beta: Art
Source(s) (drama/novel/RPF/combinations): Any
Crossovers or AUs?: All goes
Do you feel comfortable giving feedback on Chinese language/culture?: No, I know practically nothing about China or its culture, sorry.
Feedback you're specifically good at (encouragement, color, structure, spelling and grammar, sex scenes, etc.): Constructive criticism for practically anything art-wise. I know how to give constructive criticism with lots of encouragement.
Limitations: I can beta anything from sketches to almost finished works, whatever easiest for the artist. Themes like gore or problematic things like noncon is OK but no drugs, scat or watersports related content.
General likes: Everything goes, but I love backgrounds.
Anything else you want to say: My way of betaing is redpenning and doing bullet lists about what could be improved and how.

Preferred contact information (email, chat, whatever you want to use for beta, etc.): DM on Dreamwidth (or twitter, where I'm [Bad username or site: doctorscience @ twitter.com).]Types of work you're willing to beta (art, fic, podfic, etc.): Fic, art. For vids I cannot do a technical beta, but I can do "here is my overall sense" beta, and also things like "this bit isn't working".
Source(s) (drama/novel/RPF/combinations): drama, only the novel parts that have been translated already. No RPF.
Crossovers or AUs?: Yes, either, though it's better if I have some familiarity with the other source.
Language(s): English. I also know French & German, but not well enough to beta for those languages.
Do you feel comfortable giving feedback on Chinese language/culture?: Language and contemporary culture, not in any detail, but I have read a LOT (in English) about Chinese culture & history, especially history of science & technology, over the past 40 years.
Feedback you're specifically good at (encouragement, color, structure, spelling and grammar, sex scenes, etc.): One of the authors I first worked with called me the Beta Dominatrix; this icon evokes my general approach. I can do all levels from the most detailed SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar) up to broad plot and theme overview, but if the SPAG stuff isn't fixed I'll be cranky to be associated with the finished product.
Limitations (nothing incomplete, nothing over X words or minutes, no explicit sex or violence, nothing focused on Y character, etc.): I can only beta works with children or pregnancy if they're dealt with like the serious, messy topics they are. A/B/O only if it subverts the trope in some way, in which case BRING IT ON! BDSM is a foreign language for me.
If the work needs a lot of line-editing (for SPAG) I can't turn it around too quickly.
General likes: World-building. Politics. Imperfect sex. Non-Standard Equipment. Outsider POV. Unconventional stylistic choices. I love all the drama characters, not just WeiLan, but it's possible I have a special soft spot for Ye Zun.
Anything else you want to say I love betaing but I sort of fell out of the habit after the migration to Tumblr. One of the wonderful things about Guardian and my Dreamwidth Renaissance is starting to feel like betaing again. I can look over short ficlets, I can also help get a 100K+ epic into shape. Doing that, knowing that I helped make a good thing better, is one of fandom's greatest joys for me.
