I don't remember exactly how I ended up watching Guardian (my memory is going down the drain thanks to never getting a full night's sleep anymore), just that I somehow got it confused with Nirvana in Fire? I was late enough in watching it on Youtube that I only got to ep 16 when it was suddenly taken down for a while. I watched the next few eps without subs (it was okay, I can speak enough Chinese to get by) and then china_shop helped me out ;) It took me awhile to finish watching and I read the novel alongside it. Because my ebook reader hated the file, finishing the novel took ages (1 minute to turn a page in a 600 page document... *grumble*). I remember being hooked from the start, though. The romance is so incredibly obvious, I thought that something like that would never make it onto a screen in China and in that format. Anyway, it's been the spark that I've been missing and it's rekindled my passion for learning Chinese. I've actually started reading another BL novel in Chinese by now. It's hard to choose a favorite scene, but I concur that the scenes in Zhao Yunlan's apartment are shipping gold.
