My only issue with the reunion festival dinner is how white all the food is. Is that normal for a feast? /shallow

I... have no idea what this means? xD Like, in color or does it stand for something? (I have never before considered the color of any food apparently. :D)

Oops, sorry for the ambiguity. Yes, literally white in colour (or, well, actually pale yellow and white). Apart from the fruit, there's only dumplings and buns and things (are there even dipping sauces?), and I find the uniformity of starch-colour a little unappetising. But maybe it's completely normal, and I'm just being weird. /entirely possible!

I just did an image search on "Reunion Festival Feast" and the meals look like they're usually much more colourful (different kinds of meat and veges), so now I'm thinking, oh, this is probably all street food. Maybe this is the fancy version of street food (no skewers!) because it's a special occasion? ;-p

(Btw, I love that they have dragonfruit -- in Dragon City. :D)

Yeah, it doesn't looko like it's a typical Mid-Autumn thing, so I have no idea.

Maybe Shen Wei offered to cook, but events overtook them with the whole Zhu Jiu situation, so they just bought a bunch of buns and dumplings instead.

(Is dragonfruit "dragonfruit" in Chinese too?)

This is honestly such a fascinating perspective to me - the only time I've ever heard anything about food color were those infographics for kids that specific colors of vegetables have specific vitamins? (Is it debunked? Any color can have any vitamin, and it was only a thing because eating different types of vegetables is good in general? Idk. :D) I would never have noticed the color of any food anywhere, which also means I have no idea what is normal. :D

I'm under the impression that Chinese food tries to incorporate a variety/contrast of textures as well as flavours, so I guess I assumed that they'd go for visually interesting combinations too. But maybe not. (I'm not visual at all, but I notice this every time.)
