That is SO COOL?? All for different reasons too, making a pattern in the end - I can see it being deliberate, and it's still super neat even if it's not!

Yes, agreed! If it were ZYL, I'd put it down to coincidence, but Shen Wei is so restrained in his gestures, especially when he's in his robes. Maybe it really was deliberate. :D :D :D

Oh huh! The sweeeping hand gesture is so characteristic of the Envoy, and now that I think of it, the way Shen Wei extends his hand in the interrogation scene is a bit reminiscent of that, so slow and deliberate - maybe it's one of the things that reminds Chu Shuzhi of the Envoy ...

Yes! I've written it a few times, from various angles. :-) I don't think it would be top of mind immediately-immediately, but given how dedicatedly Shen Wei is looking after ZYL around that time, it kind of has to come up. :D

Huh, I just checked, and there's less of it than I remembered; I've generally assumed CSZ is too reverent and respectful to question the Envoy's choices, even in the privacy of his thoughts, so I have him notice and it immediately move on. There's a little bit in this ficlet.
