April fanworks round-up post!

It feels like we did one of these only last week, but it's time. This is the fanworks round-up post for April! Please link in the comments to any Guardian (or related fandoms) fanworks you created or enjoyed this month.

No fic or other fanworks for me this month, except for a Fu You picspam.

REC: I finally read nnozomi's amazing post-canon Zhao Xinci longfic, Two Hearts, right through, and it blew my mind. It does that thing I love of extrapolating from canon details and digging into the consequences of canon events, drawing all kinds of delicious thematic resonances between the characters. This time through, I was very aware of the variants and combinations of violation, co-option, grief, shame, but there are other themes you could see in it, too, I think. Definitely one to savour and re-read.

One of the reasons I haven't commented on Two Hearts on AO3 yet is that there is SO MUCH I want to say about -- as you say so well - its delicious thematic resonances!

I didn't quite live up to my icon, but I did manage two fics this month!

I posted a link to the comm earlier, but for this roundup I'll mention it again:
Realizing that my next Guardian fic would be my 69th, I wrote one that vaguely fit the theme, involving the suggestive use of ice cream: I’m Sweet for You, Come Put Me in a Cone (535 words).

I also participated in this month's Firewhiskey Fic event and wrote (tipsily) a multi-crossover that included Guardian (strongly suggesting hot and heavy WeiLan action): Gilderoy Spreads Alarm (But Not Despondency) (2911 words).

I wrote this whole thing once already and then because I'm on my phone the whole damn thing vanished somewhere before I could post it and now I don't quite remember what I was saying. It was probably things far more interesting than this. I am a bit upset now.

But I did post things at the beginning of the month, before I ran out of steam. I still have things left to post. The queue seems never ending, but that's probably because I keep writing more and adding to it.

I posted this weilan very nipple centric pwp that I finished quite some time ago: Your Body Is More Than a Temple (1978 words)

And this cute little pre-canon weilan alternate first meeting that I actually even wrote in April: At First Glance (1213 words)

Also a weilan derivative fic that has also been lingering unposted for a while. It's somewhat darkish, I think, and with a Jing Ran/Lin Dayu pairing: Bad Things (5693 words)

As usual there's also corresponding podfics to all of these, but at this point I can't deal with trying to link to any more things on my phone. My fingers are not happy right now. They're linked from the fics so they shouldn't be hard to find if anyone wants to!

Other than that I've finished my 520 day fic. I'm letting it breathe for a while before taking a final look to see how it feels. It ended up shorter than I thought it would when I started writing, but it feels complete and who am I to argue with the vibes?

I also managed to go through my WIPs and organise them a bit and update my very out of date list of WIPs. I ended up finding at least ten that I'd entirely lost somehow. I then made a post to Tumblr with my whole WIP list. It's a bit out of date by now, because I think I've started about five new WIPs since, which all things considered is a surprisingly moderate amount of new WIPs.

I think that's about all I've done. I've failed to read anything despite eyeing some fic up before deciding I'm not up for it. Maybe one day. There's a lot of fic to read whenever I am up for it.

But yay for posting fic, even if you did run out of steam - you'll get there again. And I keep admiring how incredibly prolific you are! So many WIPs (seriously, that list, OMG!), and you keep finishing things AND also adding new things! That's fantastic! Long may it continue! *waves pom-poms*

Also, congrats on finishing your 520 Day fic! I'm sure it knows what length it needs to be. :D

Good luck feeling up for reading some fic again soon, too. As you say, it'll all be there whenever you're ready! ♥

Guardian just happens to be easy to write for. And real easy to have ideas for. :D So many ideas. Some of those WIPs were started four years ago and I definitely still plan on getting back to them, but I keep being distracted by all the new ideas.

But yeah, I'm not complaining. I wouldn't want to stop.
