Most people have probably seen, but I thought I'd bring it here as well: the Guardian novel is getting an official translation next year!

Thank you! I'm both exited and apprehensive :). I'd love to know more about the translators too. I have not retained much of the stuff I've read about this publisher,* they weren't doing any books I was that interested in the last time I was aware. Looks like they are also doing Sha Po Lang as Stars of Chaos...

I don't know much about the publisher either, though from what I heard the quality of their translations varied a lot between translators. Here's hoping these will be good!

I'm a manga fan so I'm familiar with this translator. Their Japanese-English translations vary in quality between "pretty good" and "mediocre," but I can't speak for what their Chinese novel imprint will look like, since it's a fairly new development. (I didn't even know about it until I saw this post, though to be fair I'm not a huge danmei fan anyway.) Tbh, I'd have preferred Yen On to have picked this up, but they don't seem to be doing any Chinese series at the moment.

United Workers of 7 Seas did include both better training and reasonable workloads in their demands, both of which would hopefully help with some of that unevenness. Not sure if those changes are in effect yet but hopefully they'll help?

That's what I've heard about the danmei translations from Seven Seas, too.

One of the translaters is in one of the discords and has a partial fan translation already, which I'm given to understand (not having read it myself) is good quality.

7S has also picked up their game after the first MDZS volume release contained numerous errors, and I believe subsequent volumes are of much improved standard.

Thank you, that is all good to know! I heard about the issue with the first MDZS volume, but since I never bought their edition (I got the German translation instead), I didn't see how that developed.
