some recent news (yes, news!)
- There's been a rumour that Zhu Yilong and Bai Yu filmed a scene together, and it looks like it's true!
Here's hoping we'll get actual confirmation some time in the foreseeable future, but I'm seriously delighted because I didn't expect that to happen any time soon, if at all. - Over a year ago, there was news about a Guardian webmovie that was supposed to film soon. Well, looks like it's actually happening now! Except that rather than wuxia, it seems to be Republican era ...?
(Who knows! And either way, can't wait to see what comes of it.)

But I feel like this is going to be such a completely different thing, it won't matter. (I'm also in Sherlock Holmes fandom, and used to a million adaptations, some of which I love and some of which I hate. Comics fandom has something of the same, doesn't it?)
Also, this is probably going to be a trainwreck. But I'm morbidly curious. :D

I told myself the same thing! Between comics and Doctor Who I shouldn't mind, but. Zhu Yilong. His eyes! And everything!

Same! Some of my favourite stevetony iterations are weird AUs that only showed up in one issue :D

It sort of makes sense, I guess – pre-1949 stuff can have supernatural occurrences, so they can have a closer adaptation of the novel (and avoid using time travel, as that's apparently a no-no sometimes), and Republic era is probably cheaper than wuxia.

(If it were any good, of course, which, uh, I'm not expecting. But sometimes bad adaptations still can spark good fanfic!)
