The Cat and His Boy
As many have observed, Zhao Yunlan has some habits that look like he was raised by a cat, notably:

The cats are on the table, again! We've got to train them not to do that.
But this creates some timeline issues.
In the novel, Daqing finds c. 10-y.o. Zhao Yunlan, gives him the Guardian Order, and tells him about his powers and duties. ZYL later establishes the SID. In the novel Daqing does sort of raise ZYL, or at least he helps, though by the time our story begins Daqing doesn't seem to live with him regularly, he mostly sacks out at HQ.
In the drama, we see an amnesiac Daqing being brought into the already-existing SID about 10 years "before present". He becomes a Deputy at some point. Yet by the time the show begins he seems to be living with ZYL at least part of the time, and they're physically quite close, in a cat-and-boy sort of way. Not to mention ZYL's habits that he seems to have picked up from Daqing (like how he treats the furniture).
If drama!ZYL only met Daqing when he was a young man of 18ish, why does it seem like he was *raised* by cats?

rheasilvia is one attempt at making sense of the drama timeline for Daqing. Are there any others? Since one of the signature moves of the drama is to go back to a previous scene and change the meaning by showing more of it, is it possible to have drama!Daqing meet bb!Zhao Yunlan years before Old Li hits him, to give ZYL more time to learn how to be a cat?
From a Doylist POV, why change Old Wu to Old Li and make him have important history with Daqing? What does this accomplish?
