Question About Shen Wei's Powers

Does anyone here have any thoughts on when Shen Wei's powers manifested?
We see him using his powers as young BCE Shen Wei but not at the flashbacks at the very end when he and Ye Zun were attacked by the Rebel Leader. However, we do know that the Rebel Leader identified him as powerful, but was that simply because he was healthy and Ye Zun wasn't or could he recognise the active power? Did they manifest after he was pushed off the cliff and found the glaive? Any thoughts would be very helpful.

I think he had them before the encounter with the Rebel Leader, because when he got thrown off the cliff, he got up again with just a few scratches. So I think he must have already gained the healing ability, otherwise he'd have been hurt more, right? But he didn't have enough control of it to be able to use it to heal others (i.e., Ye Zun) yet.

Yeah, that's my take as well.

He might not even have realized he'd learned that ability until he got shoved off the cliff.

True, although I wasn't sure if they were hinting at his healing abilities when Zhao Yunlan, after being introduced to him as Kunlun in the cave, asked after his injuries and he deflected, saying that it was all minor stuff or that he hadn't really been injured. And ZYL said something like, "yeah, when has anything hurt you?" Or something like that.

I thought that was more Zhao Yunlan good-naturedly grumbling about how Shen Wei never admits that he's hurt.

Yeah, it could be that too.

None of the Dixing people seem to use their powers in battle in the past. (I came up with a rationale for this in my past!fic: that they had a weapons ban treaty on using their powers to fight, and the Rebels went along with it because if one of them used an ability on the battlefield, that power was instantly available to the Black-Cloaked Envoy, who could turn it back on them.)

yo7n*

You know, I spent about 2 minutes trying to parse whether this was an incredibly clever acronym for something I haven't encountered yet, and then I suddenly thought, what if it's a typo for 'young'? :)

That's my thought as well, and I think Shen Wei's healing in general isn't all purpose. For example, he was unable to heal Zhao Yunlan's eyes. Ye Zun seemed to be sickly in a chronically ill way.
