It's been that kind of week (also I partly blame the Iguana festival). I spent a happy commute thinking of all these options and how Shen Wei would react to the concept of kink. My main headcanon is that anything that requires trust, or expresses their mutual besottedness could be a kink for these guys.

The answer options I've chosen are not in any way exhaustive, just what first came to my mind. I do think some kinks are more likely for them than others (e.g. I can't believe that Shen Wei would enjoy any sort of pain, he's too stoic about it). It was a lot easier to come up with kink ideas for Yunlan *g*.

In the novel I believe Yunlan has a kink for BB Shen Wei's long hair? People with novel knowledge - I'd love to hear how the novel deals with kinks!

This is the kind of skill that goes out the window for many people when their emotions are strongly involved, so I can see that it might become unexpectedly problematic when the strong emotions of romance are involved. But I have seen *so many* otherwise good communicators act as though they have never met another human being when in conflict with close friends, or siblings, or parents and kids - whenever the emotional stakes are high and emotions cut in front of their reasoning brain.

So again, I really don't think this is something that is restricted to romantic relationships, and must necessarily be practiced in exactly that context. (Which is a good thing, because I very much doubt Zhao Yunlan could ever have had a context like this before, given the arguments he has with Shen Wei are often about Shen Wei not seeing himself as a person who has value as anything but a weapon, and other things of that nature. *g*)

Plus I also think Zhao Yunlan is far from being a typically competent communicator - he is basically a contestant for the Olympic gold medal in communicating. ;-)

Shen Wei's obviously in the dramatic entrances and exits category! The Envoy is very good at them, after all, even in plainclothes.

YES! And he is completely smitten with Zhao Yunlan when he catches sight of him in the Olympic village, and does a particularly amazing Dramatic Entrance just for him. And Zhao Yunlan is all unimpressed: "Meh, I guess it's okay. But can you Talk About Your Emotions With Me?"

And Shen Wei just meeps... "..."

But fortunately Zhao Yunlan skillfully manages to save the conversation. ;-)

Aww! Zhao Yunlan would probably at least acknowledge the effort a bit, after Shen Wei did the sadface thing at him, but yes, Shen Wei would be all flanicky inside over the hot guy wanting to talk to him oh no how is Shen Wei supposed to handle this calamity??? Thankfully, Zhao Yunlan can savethe conversation indeed. (Maybe do his own impressing of Shen Wei by applying communication skills to the falling out Shen wei and Ye Zun had, too, so there are zero Ye Zuns trying to take over the world?)

Oh yes, once Zhao Yunlan realizes how sweet and earnest Shen Wei is, he will definitely find some nice things to say (excellent lighting! nice bíllowing of the cloak!), and in fact quite probably shower him with compliments until he is all flaily for entirely different reasons.

Ye Zun is no doubt also competing in Dramatic Entrances and Exits, but not expected to place very high because his style is way over the top. Of course, he always blames his poor performance on bribed/stupid/partial judges. IT IS NOT FAIR!

Maybe Zhao Yunlan can diplomatically convince him to try competing in Smirking, instead...?

Yes! Zhao Yunlan quite accidentally discovers Shen Wei's Thing for being praised, and shamelessly exploits it. Shen Wei is thrilled and has no idea how to be thrilled to that extent, making Zhao Yunlan go "aww" even more.

Zhao Yunlan is an Olympic finalist in Communication, of course he can convince Ye Zun to take up Smirking or Dramatic Monologues instead!

I imagine that Shen Wei will eventually develop a special kind of Dramatic Entrance just for Zhao Yunlan, where he dispenses with the smoke and thunder and billowing cloak, and goes all-out on the dazzling (besotted) smile, home-cooked meal, and irresistably touchable, soft and tousled hair. ;-)
