Picspam/Quiz: Hands - answers
And here are the answers to the hands quiz!
There were some very excellent guesses, and almost all characters and scenes were guessed in some fashion. The only one where no one came close to guessing the scene was 8d, which is a not very recognisable flashback. I'm totally impressed with everything else, though! Congrats! :D
1a) isn't too difficult as far as Hallows-groping goes - after all, the Sundial doesn't remain that tiny for very long. *g* This is on the rooftop in episode 1, after Li Li Qian loses her pendant while being attacked by the Shadow Man, and it's Zhao Yunlan's hand picking it up. (He's about to return it to her, having no idea what it is yet.)
1b) is of course - the Hanga tattoo gives it away - Sang Zan. Here in episode 11, he is standing over Ge Lan's grave, and his tribe are trying to make him a slave again. He curses them all - and in a moment, the Awl will light up, enpillar him and ghostify them all.
1c) isn't quite so easy - after all, there are many times someone (contrary to popular belief, not just Zhao Yunlan!) reaches for the Hallows in the SID lab. This one is from episode 12, Tan Xiao's hand as he's trying to steal the Hallows. Sang Zan will thwart him with a trap, and then Zhao Yunlan will dramatically catch the Awl, and Shen Wei will dramatically catch Zhao Yunlan. :D
1d), on the other hand, is in fact Zhao Yunlan - but not one of the instances when he actually touches one of the Hallows! It's from episode 15, and he's about to be caught and stopped by Shen Wei.
1e) is an easy one again - this is Shen Wei holding the Hallows on the rooftop in episode 19, activating them to signal Zhu Jiu, just before they capture him.
1f) is - oops - yet another non-Zhao Yunlan Hallows groper! This one is Chu Shuzhi in episode 33; he's about to use the Sundial to save Xiao-Guo after Zhao Yunlan brings him and Shen Wei back from Dixing.
2a) is of course Ya Qing taunting Zhu Jiu - specifically, this is in episode 14, after he's failed to get the Hallows and instead got shot by Zhao Yunlan during the Envoy reveal.
The oranges in 2b) are very well known; everyone got this right! This is Shen Wei preparing fruit for Zhao Yunlan in episode 26. A moment later he'll find Zhao Yunlan has fallen asleep on the sofa, and will cover him with his jacket. ♥
3a) is also very recognisable, apparently! This is indeed Zhu Hong in episode 4, tapping her pen on the table while interrogating Shen Wei.
3b) of course takes place in Shen Wei's office - this is episode 7, and Zhao Yunlan is gesturing with the brush while talking to Shen Wei about the webnovelist case.
3c) is a flashback from episode 16 set at the SID library - the hand is Zhao Xinci's, and it's the scene where Sang Zan realises Zhao Xinci is sometimes left-handed and sometimes right-handed (because of Zhang Shi, of course).
3d) is someone whose name I had to look up - this is Xiao-Jie, Bo Bi's brother, writing his suicide note in an episode 19 flashback. A moment later he'll change his mind - only to be murdered by Zhu Jiu.
3e) is from episode 20 - these are Cong Bo and Lin Jing, writing a self-criticism at the Inspectorate after causing a city-wide blackout. :)
3f) is Shen Wei at the Inspectorate lab in episode 27 - he's reconstructing what the lab has been up to.
4a) is of course Shen Wei - this is one of two very memorable pendant moments. I'm surprised this wasn't more immediately recognisable! It's from episode 12, after he lets Lin Jing examine his life forcein his undershirt, and he's contemplating whether he should tell Zhao Yunlan the truth.
4b) is of course Shen Wei again, the other moment where we see him pulling out and contemplating his pendant. This one is in episode 26, and he's watching Zhao Yunlan sleep - just after he's cut up oranges, found Zhao Yunlan asleep on the sofa and covered him with his jacket. ♥
5a) is Zhao Yunlan taking some bitter cold medicine in episode 3. (He did go to the hospital for meds, but still needs Zhu Hong to actually make him take it!)
5b) is from episode 11 - or 12, since the same shot is repeated at the beginning there. It's Zhu Hong drinking with her uncle - and he's drugged her alcohol.
5c) is set during that period when Zhao Yunlan knows the truth, but Shen Wei isn't admitting to being the Envoy. This is in episode 12, at Shen Wei's office, and the hand is Shen Wei's - he's giving Zhao Yunlan tea instead of answers. *g*
5d) is another instance of drugged beverages! This is from episode 24, the videogame case, and the hands are Cheng Xinyan's - she's drugged Zhao Yunlan's coffee.
5e) This is Da Ji's husband Zheng Daqian poisoning her wine in episode 26.
5f) is of course Sha Ya, the first time Lin Jing tries to give her the ring - in the SID interrogation room in episode 28.
6a) is another very easy one: Shen Wei in episode 4, pricking his finger on Lin Yusen's trap in the park to "prove" he's not invulnerable.
6b) is from episode 28. The scratched hand is Shen Wei's, Zhao Yunlan is grasping his arm after a fight with some Crows, demanding to know why he's not healing.
7a) is of course the handshake at the start of all things - episode 1, Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan having their very first meeting. (Well, one of their very first meetings. Time loop! :D)
7b) is from episode 12. These hands belong to Tan Xiao and Zheng Yi, in a flashback where he's tending her wounds.
7c) is of course Zheng Yi again, this time with the Envoy in episode 14. He's about to take her away - "to the faraway realm of around the street corner", asautodach said. :D
7d) is yet another black-and-white pair - such a recurring motif! These two are Hua Yuzhu and Sha Ya; they're reconciling at the locust tree in episode 26, just before Shen Wei takes them to Dixing.
7e) is during the Nightmare Master arc. This is from Zhu Hong's dream in episode 31; she's taking Zhao Yunlan's hand as she agrees to wake up.
7f) is the black-and-white pair, and one of the most recognisable images - it's of course Ye Zun taking Shen Wei's hand during their posthumous reconciliation in episode 40.
8a) shows Shen Wei during the mugging in episode 6. He's about to give the muggers his money - and even though Zhao Yunlan will beat them up soon, he and Shen Wei will leave and Shen Wei will leave without taking that money back.
8b) is from episode 17, during Zhao Yunlan's first visit to Dixing. Here, Zhao Yunlan is paying "fortune teller" Ding Dun, who will in a moment stab him with a syringe gun and then go after him with a knife.
8c) stumped everyone, thoughfacethestrange recognised Xiao-Guo's hand. Yep, this is Guo Changcheng, and he's betting on Lao-Chu at the fight club in episode 18.
8d) stumped everyone even more! To be fair, this one is hard - the colour gives away that it's a flashback, but there are other flashbacks involving money. (Most notably from Cong Bo's backstory.) This, however, is from episode 18 - the hands belong to Ye Huo and one of the boys he's been protecting. Ye Huo is trying to give money to him and one other boy so they can leave the city, but they're not having it - they're staying with him. (Alas, they will end up murdered by Zhu Jiu.)
9a) is another one of Li Qian's rooftop scenes - she has several of them! These are her hands, and this is the scene in episode 2, where Zhao Yunlan accuses her of killing her grandma and she doesn't deny it.
9b) is another rooftop scene, because many people hang out on rooftops in this show! The hands belong to Wang Xiangyang. It's episode 22, and he's speechifying on the rooftop about killing everyone who wronged him, just after Sha Ya's first break-in at the Inspectorate lab.
10a) takes us back to the beginning - in episode 1, Zhao Yunlan is measuring Lu Ruomei's strangled throat with Xiao-Guo's hand.
10b) is from episode 2. Shen Wei is visiting Li Qian at the hospital, and has brought food. This is him, opening a container.
10c) is from episode 5, the water kidnapping case with Wu Tian'en and Wu Xiaojun: here, Chu Shuzhi is putting a tracker on Li Jiaqi's car (before she gets kidnapped too).
10d) is set in episode 15 while Zhao Yunlan is in Dixing: Zhao Xinci is coming to inspect the SID, and these hands belong to Xiao-Guo. He finds masks in Zhao Yunlan's drawer and is about to put one on to impersonate Zhao Yunlan in front of Zhao Yunlan's father. *g*
10e) is of course related the the underground fight ring - and these hands belong to Chu Shuzhi; he's wrapping them in preparation for his fight with Ye Huo in episode 18.
10f) is from episode 28, when Zhao Xinci has been captured. Zhao Yunlan has tried to use the Hallows to find a clue, and has promptly passed out. Here Shen Wei is tucking Zhao Yunlan's arm into bed, the second tucking-into-bed scene these two get! ♥
10g) is kitty climbing a tree: this hand belongs to Da Qing. The scene is from episode 37, while Zhao Yunlan, Da Qing and Zhu Hong are trapped in Mi Lu's labyrinth on their way to the Yashou. Da Qing has found a real tree and is now climbing it.
And our last pic, 10h) is set in Dixing during episode 39! This is the Dixing bartender, spreading the word about Ye Zun and rallying Dixing's citizens.
