Omfgggggg this scene. ♡♡♡ The answer is all of the above as far as I'm concerned, 100%. :D :D And also the wincing and the ~skillful hands~ line ARE my favorite things about this scene, hands down, so this is easy, hah. :D (Though now I'm very curious about other people's favorite aspects of it, and what all the other options are. :D)

Re: the first aid kit, my first thought was 'for work' (both colleagues and students), and I adore the idea that he surreptitiously healed them too. :D But I'm loving the 'for Zhao Yunlan' option, lol, like, Shen Wei met him and immediately got it because of course Zhao Yunlan will be getting in trouble, what a perfect excuse to invite him over. xD

I always kind of assumed he had the first aid kit because he took one look at Zhao Yunlan in the present and saw what a mess the man was and realized (perhaps reluctantly) that *someone* was going to have to take responsibility for keeping that man alive and it may as well be him.

The wince: I voted for it hurting and also him having a feeling about SW touching him. :)

The first-aid kit: someone got it for him when he moved into the dorms and they realised he didn't have one, and then he used it to help others with minor injuries (I love that idea, so I voted for that!). But also, as soon as Zhao Yunlan came on the scene, or at least since that scene on the rooftop where Zhao Yunlan scrapes his arm trying to save Li Qian and Shen Wei really wants to help him but can't, the kit has essentially been "for Zhao Yunlan" (so I voted for that, too) even before Shen Wei moved out of the dorms. *g*

My favourite thing about the liniment scene is Shen Wei finding a reason to put his hands on Zhao Yunlan's skin. He could have just given him the ointment, but noooo. :D

*nodnod* I think he definitely has feelings about SW touching him, but I think the wince itself is genuine (chagrined) hurt. But I only realised I think that from reading all the comments so far. :-)

I think SW had to get his hands on ZYL so he could surreptitiously heal him (or at least check for serious damage). It's either first aid or sneaking into his flat at night and ministering to him in his sleep, and the latter is much riskier in terms of keeping his identity secret. ;-p

Oooh, YES, I didn't think of that! I can even see him getting the kit just because of the scrape. ♡ (But I am a big fan of all the scenarios where he already had it pre-canon. :D)

I explained elsewhere why I voted for "it hurts and he doesn't want to admit it" (I think he's performance "tough competence" and feeling a bit sheepish about getting jumped by the mugger.)

I also voted for the first aid kit being there for Zhao Yunlan. I love the idea that Shen Wei bought it as a cover for being able to get his hands on ZYL to heal him with dark energy, if/when necessary.

And oops, I forgot to say some of my favourite bits of the scene. I could have offered at least a dozen options, but here are some.

1. Zhao Yunlan is so antsy and uncomfortable to start with that although Shen Wei makes two attempts to fold his jacket, het ends up just laying it on the chair unfolded, because he's too focused on persuading ZYL to stay.

2. We get to see more of Shen Wei's apartment.

3. The verbal parrying about interrogations and becoming a consultant. Zhao Yunlan is still testing, but Shen Wei looks like he's enjoying himself. <3

4. Zhao Yunlan says, "It doesn't hurt," and Shen Wei shakes his head like, I know you're lying, lol. (What's sauce for the gander is sauce for the other gander, Shen Wei!)

5. "I didn't expect you to have such skilful hands. For a university professor, you know quite a bit." SO SHAMELESS!!! :D :D :D (He gets a reaction, and he knows it, even if Shen Wei then deflects.)

6. ZYL messes up, mentioning the view from the window, and there's this sudden delightful dangerous tension. ZYL's save is met with a skeptical eyebrow. :D

7. Shen Wei having pendant feelings after ZYL leaves.
