So I didn't vote for it, but I laughed hard at Shen Wei investing in a lollipop factory. Priorities, etc. Also, Dixing had damn well better be paying him a stipend. (I have my suspicions that they're cheap and that the Regent would pretend that a man of legend wouldn't need a stipend, especially if he thinks it might lead to a reduction in appropriations for the Regent.) Shen Wei is entitled to financial compensation for all that he's gone through for Dixing.

I'm loving the lollipop factory idea so much because if Shen Wei had a hand in making this specific lollipop, it would make the whole time loop even more self-referencing, haha. :D :D

Ha, agreed on both counts. (I wonder how much Haixing money the Dixing administration has access to. I guess they must be trading something.)

Oh he definitely would have done it all anyway. He is the absolute best, even when it hurts him, and he needs sooooooooooooo many hugs.

But yeah, I agree that the Dixing probably is trading something to Haixing. Probably something that's either hard or impossible to find on the surface. And maybe this is just my anti-Regent bias coming through, but I could definitely see the revenue from said trade benefiting the government more than the people of Dixing. And now I'm imagining a different timeline for Ye Zun where he breaks out of the pillar, audits the government's books, and then starts eating corrupt officials XD
