Wu Tian'en is a good point, it's hard to know what his condition was.

Yeah, I think so too, they were supposed to just take everything he gave them and go away.

I think he knows ZYL has been following him, and that is part (but not all) of why he doesn't just teleport away from the mugging (using Wu Tian'en's power or another teleporting power). But ZYL is far enough behind that he also doesn't know if/when he'll catch up. Most of my reasoning is his lack of surprise at ZYL's arrival. Idk, I could be wrong.
(Btw, rewatching that bit, I do love that he's perfectly willing to stand back and let ZYL take on two violent muggers. Like, he's protective of ZYL, but he doesn't coddle him. *g*)
Wu Tian'en was hit with a crossbow bolt? poison dart? (meant for his son) by Huang Chaoyang's henchmen. I thought he'd died at the SID, but I just checked, and you're right. When the Envoy shows up and asks ZYL if it's worth using the Dial to save a Dixingren, ZYL says, "He's not dead yet." Huh.
ETA: So if drunk bar guy had "killed" ZYL in the sense that he was still dying, Shen Wei could save him.
ETA2: And that said, there is a resurrection power somewhere, because Ding Dun, and Shen Wei might know that. And that said, Shen Wei isn't thundering, "Where's the body? Show me!" so I think all this is irrelevant. ;-)

The stepping back bit is excellent! SW isn't worried about ZYL at all there; he knows what ZYL can handle. And he's going to insist on putting ointment on his arm, but he's not going to wrap him in cotton wool and try to prevent him from ever getting a scrape. *g*

Yeah, he's passed out but definitely not dead (yet), and it's unclear exactly how close to death he is when SW saves him, but SW doesn't seem to be worried about being able to do it. Same with Zhang Ruonan. He must be able to pull someone back from the brink.
Good point about the Ding Dun resurrection power, too - I really wish they'd done something with that because him turning up back from the dead is so random and unexplained!

I wonder if he could subtly intervene if he had to. ;-)

Yes, exactly! *loves*

Lin Jing shakes his head regretfully, like, there's no hope. But yeah. (And chances are, SW was planning to do it anyway, so he could ask him about the mission 20 years ago; he just thought he'd have to take him somewhere else first. Right?)

There's a line by the Regent, isn't there? But that's it.

Oh yeah, I'm sure he could! But he doesn't look like he thinks he'll have to.

Yeah, that's what I always thought - that SW was going to heal him anyway after he took him away. So he's probably not going to die any moment now, even if there is no hope of recovery.

I think the line by the Regent is about his initial escape, not his return to life, but I don't remember clearly right now.

Yesss. ♡ He is a police officer who's been doing just fine without Shen Wei until now, he can handle this. :D (Plus, he's Kunlun; before he learned all that much about actual fighting, but still Kunlun. :D)

Exactly!! (My feeling is that early-canon ZYL has probably done some martial arts and is good at hand-to-hand, but not so much with sword-fighting or battle combat, you know? :D)
