Ye Zun!!! Bb. I think he looks great in his embodied villain era, both with the ponytail (see everyone's icons) and with his energy whip and bleeding third eye, though slightly too pouty/smug to be as unsettling as in his Ominous Pillar era or as the hologram in the park. The golden mask looks great on him, and actually it's Shen Wei who patterned his modern-day mask off Ye Zun's, so that makes didi the trendsetter. Therefore the answer to the final question must be that the fashions have changed.

I had to stop following them because of all the fourth-wall breaking, but I know for a lot of people, that's a feature not a bug.

IIRC it's
0. No masks for baby Shen Wei or Ye Zun
1. Shen Wei and Ye Zun, independently, have their initial YOHE masks. Both are black, but the style is different.
2. Ye Zun eats the Rebel Boss and gets his golden mask
3. Dirt nap happens, and afterwards, Shen Wei gets his new Envoy garb and mask patterned off Ye Zun's, but palette swapped
(4. Ye Zun impersonates the Envoy, using the black mask)

Does anyone else wear a mask, outside the masquerade scene in the bar?

Oh, you're right, I had forgotten! Only for one of her break-ins, though - the first time, she's in disguise and wearing a surgical mask instead.

Ahh, that makes sense. I was flailing a bit to remember which episodes the break-ins happened in.

Other masks:

• pretty sure Zheng Yi wears a mask at some point
• I think Zhang Danni wore a mask in her origin-story flashbacks?
• we see Wu Tian'en in the streets of Dixing in his pig mask (but that starts in the bar)
• does Zhao Yunlan wearing An Bai's face (when they're catching the Deacon out) count?

This mask is so incredibly crow-like in design that it sort of comes across as Crow Tribe. Did Ya Qing give it to her? (Also, it looks hot af.)

Omg, how did I never realize that! I guess Shen Wei is only into modern Haixing fashion, not into mysterious-looking Dixing fashion? xD He needs to get ideas for that from someone else. :D (And then Ye Zun fails at doing modern fashion Shen-Wei-style, so I'd say they're even, but then again the ponytail look is such a perfect blend of both styles that Ye Zun still wins in the end. :D)
