520 Day Reverse Exchange 2025 Sign-Ups Part Two: REQUESTS!

This is the second part of the 520 Day Reverse Exchange sign-ups. If you made an offer on the last post, this is where you make your requests. (If you didn't make an offer on the last post, you're too late to sign up, sorry.)

You'll find our anonymous participant ads in the Google doc linked at the bottom of this post.

What to do:
  1. Read the instructions fully before you make your requests.

  2. Choose 3 writers/artists/fanwork creators from the anonymous participant ads. (Try not to choose yourself!)

  3. Copy and paste the request form from the text box below into a comment, and fill out your request for each of your chosen ads. There are guidelines for the questions below.

Important: You can only request things (pairings, ratings, etc.) that your chosen writer/artist/fanworks creator has offered. If a request doesn't fit the offer, we'll ask you to rewrite and resubmit.

Participant ads will be removed from the Google doc when 3 requests have been received for that creator. Please refresh the doc and check that all three of your selected creators are available before you post your comment.

Comments are screened so only mods ([personal profile] china_shop and [personal profile] trobadora) can see them.

All requests must be made by 11:59pm UTC on Friday 4th April. (What time is that for me?) Then the mods will assign one of your chosen writers/artists/creators to create your gift. You'll receive your assignment by Wednesday 9th April at the latest.

The request form




Please remember you can only request what is offered in the ad (including pairings, ratings, etc.), and you can request as many of the offered options as you like, so read the ads carefully. Keep in mind the minimum requirements for creators (for example, 300 words for fic - so don't expect an epic). Fill out the request form as follows:

AO3 name: The account you will post your work from. Your assigned creator will give their gift to this AO3 account.

Creator you're requesting from: Give the number of the anonymous participant ad. Numbers are spelled out to guard against typos - please use that format. And try not to choose your own ad!
Which part of Guardian fandom are you requesting for? Choose from the options in the ad.
What are you requesting? Choose from the media offered in the ad.
Characters and relationships you'd like to receive: Choose from the characters and relationships offered in the ad.
Ratings you'd like to receive: Choose from the ratings offered in the ad. Please include all the ratings you're willing to receive.
Participants who are under 18 may only request works rated General or Teen And Up.

What appealed to you in the creator's ad? Let your creator know what it was in their ad that caught your eye.

What you'd like to receive:
Tell your creator what kinds of things you like. Give specific details/prompts/scenarios, if desired. (Please remember these are optional for the creator.) The closer your request fits the ad, the more likely you are to receive what you want.

Include the following information, depending on the media you are requesting. Remember all requests must be within the limits of what's offered in the ad.
  • Fanfic - details of the kind of fic you'd like to receive, such as themes, tropes/plot elements, genres, scenarios

  • Fanart - details of the kind of art you'd like to receive, such as themes, moods, tropes, scenarios

  • Icons - details of the kind of icons you'd like to receive, such as themes, moods, colours, relevant scenes/screencaps, text (if offered in the ad)

  • Vids - details of the kind of vid you'd like to receive, such as themes, moods, episodes to focus on, types of music (music suggestions are optional)

  • Podfic - details of the kind of podfic you'd like to receive, such as themes, genres, moods. If the ad allows for specific suggestions, you can only suggest publicly available works which meet the creator's offer in terms of canon(s), pairing(s), rating(s), etc., and don't include any of the podficcer's DNWs.

  • Meta - details of the kind of meta you'd like to receive, such as questions, topics, themes. (Remember meta must be sufficiently transformative to meet AO3 requirements, i.e., not a collection of canon facts.)

  • Remix of a fanwork - You must include links to at least 3 existing, publicly available works in the canon(s) offered in the ad. For example, if requesting a remix of a fanfic, you must include at least three works that don't include any of the creator's DNWs.

  • Fanart for a fanwork - You must include at least 3 existing works in the canon(s) offered in the ad that don't include any of the artist's DNWs.

Important: For any specific requests based on existing fanworks (such as podfics, remixes, etc) where you are not the creator of the existing fanwork, you must link to the original creator's blanket permissions statement (check their AO3 profile or the Permission to Podfic list on fanlore) or confirm they've given you written permission to be included in your request.

What you DON'T want to receive: List your DNWs here - anything your creator should not include. These may be characterisations, tropes, plot elements, genres, themes, kinks, kinds of AUs, styles, anything. If you want to avoid a particular subplot, or you have a particular headcanon you don't want contradicted, this is the place to say. Please keep your DNWs matter-of-fact and non-judgemental.

Important: You can link to supplementary request details elsewhere, if you like, but make sure to copy the important parts (DNWs, etc) into your comment here. Anything that isn't included in your comment on this post will be optional.

Note: If your request includes omegaverse formatted in a way that forms an ethnic slur, with or without slashes, we'll replace it with "omegaverse".
