The Merit Brush has a lot of potential! I feel like the drama didn't use it as well as the others, but it's definitely versatile, and you could do a lot of cool stuff with it.

Shen Wei says at one pont that the Deacon/Attendant took over Ding Dun's old job, maybe that's where you got them mixed up? That, and Ding Dun already coming back from being supposedly dead once, without an explanation ...

Weilan post-canon fix a different timeline for baby Shen Wei and Ye Zun by yeeting the Rebel Chief into the sun. Their alternate versions still find each other later because they always do. They live a totally different story, but it doesn't matter because the original Weilan already had theirs.

Ooh, now that sounds a) Excellent and b) Fascinating! I hope that original flavour Weilan get to watch and provide commentary on their AU selves' shenanigans, lol! :D

Funny thing about the Deacon and Ding Dun at some point my brain mixed them together and then convinced me they were one person (despite what my eyes clearly told me) and I was extremely confused watching a few episodes. ("Isn't he dead? I'm sure they said he's dead?" Nope that was an entirely different person.)

Yeah, there is a confusing bit where Ding Dun is found dead, and then he shows up again to try and kill ZYL. I think the Regent saved Ding Dun offscreen or something?

YAY, thanks! :D For now I just link my fanworks in the monthly round-up post because there are so damn many, haha, but it does sound fun to do that so maybe. :D Annnnnnd! I'll definitely be making Fandom Trumps Hate posts very soon! One for all the Guardian creators (there are going to be at least 9 Guardian auctions this year, and only 3 of those are mine, lol), and at least one for just me because I really want all 3 of auctions to get bids and this comm is my best chance to achieve that. :D
