Question: your favourite Yashou worldbuilding?

I feel like I've written a ton about Yashou politics and culture, but it's mostly just a few longer pieces. I love the preoccupations of these tribes that want to keep to themselves and live in peace but keep being drawn into conflicts. I love Fourth Uncle's terrible parenting choices, Ying Chun befriending Shen Wei, Ya Qing's frustration and awful choice of allies, and Zhu Hong not fitting perfectly into either world, but ending up a leader all the same. And I love Da Qing, who cheerfully claims both the Yashou world and the human world as his own, because cat.
- Do you have any favourite Yashou worldbuilding, theories or speculation, based on canon, fanon, fanworks or just generally?
- How much contact do you think Da Qing had with the other Yashou tribes over his 10,000 years' roaming? Do you think Da Ji is the only other cat he met?
- What is the deal with Zhu Hong's inability to fully transform? Do you think that changes as she grows into her leadership role?
- Who is your favourite of the Yashou elders: Fourth Uncle, Ying Chun, or Ya Qing? Do you like the others too?
- What's your favourite scene involving the Yashou specifically?
- Any in-canon thoughts about the Yashou flea market?
- Please link to any fanworks (your own or other people's) about Yashou politics, culture or other worldbuilding.

Also, Ying Chun's crimped bits of hair are one of my favourite little details. It looks like tree bark!

Ha, true! And did Da Qing not have littermates? It would be awesome if he ran into a bunch of cats who turned out to be his siblings. :D

What a cool observation! I had to go and look at her first meeting with Zhao Yunlan, but yeah, you're so right. It's like Ya Qing's feathers. :D :D :D

I want to know more about the Cat Tribe! I want to hope that Da Qing isn't the only one left because that's so sad.
I don't agree with a lot of what Fourth Uncle believes/does, but I like him a lot because he clearly cares about Zhu Hong and worries about her.
Outside of the SID, my favorite Yashou is Fu You. She's smart and calm and seems like a good leader.

Ooh, yes! That's so subtle and so satisfying once you start noticing. :D No wonder Shen Wei went to Ying Chun for information about the Hallows. :D

Yeah, he's a very loving parent figure, even if his methods are a bit eyebrow raising. *g*
And 100% agreed about Fu You, too! I love her -- especially that she holds her leadership role with grace and seriousness, while still retaining her sense of humour and wonder.

I think, apart from Da Qing there isn't really any Yashou I have very strong feelings about, so that's probably why. And Da Qing does seem kind of removed from the other Yashou. I sort of tend to consider him singular, but Da Ji proves there's at least one other cat so Da Qing can't be entirely unique. I suppose even if he had met other cats over the years, he might have forgotten about it, so even Da Qing wouldn't necessarily know if there are others.
I think I like Ying Chun best out of the elders. She seems the calmest and most reasonable too. And I guess I'm intrigued by her possible friendship with Shen Wei.

It would sort of make sense for Da Qing to be considered and elder though if he's the only representative of the cat tribe anyone knows. I assume if the other Yashou knew about other cats Da Qing would know too.

Especially given his impressive lifespan! He's in such an interesting position, being essentially the Cat Tribe Elder (even if he doesn't really take on that role) and Deputy Chief of the SID. *skritches him* :D

Hee! *hearts* That's understandable.

Yeah, definitely -- living in the city, talking to (presumably non-Yashou) kittens...

His amnesia does open up a lot of room for handwaving. :-)

Ha, yes, the least stubborn out of all of them. I love that Shen Wei turns to her for information. :D
