Question: your favourite SID worldbuilding?

What are some of your favourite pieces of worldbuilding about the SID, from canon, or your own or someone else's fanworks? In particular, any thoughts about the raptor (eagle? hawk?) in the SID's crest, the wall of clocks, why it seemed like a good idea to keep motorbikes on a plinth, etc.?

Some of my favourite headcanons are:

1. The iguana is the second SID chief, who was transformed into lizard form by a Dixing power.


2. The SID is located in an unfashionable part of town, so that any "incidents" won't affect the higher ups or respectable businesses. That's why Zhao Yunlan is always trying to get new premises.


3. Zhao Yunlan went to the Yashou tribes looking for field agents, but the only one willing to join the SID was Zhu Hong.

I'm not sure if this counts, but Lin Jing powerwalking out of the lab after the explosion in the first episode is a because of a policy/procedure. If there's an explosion and he's uninjured, he has to make his way out to the lobby ASAP to inform the others that everything is fine/he's safe. This is because when he first joined and explosions started happening, everyone would rush to the lab because my god, an explosion just happened and they need to make sure he isn't injured or worse. But most of the time he was just fine, and it got to the point that it was disrupting work, so now anytime something explodes in the Lab, Lin Jing goes upstairs as fast as possible.

The SID has so much weird random shit lying and standing around, it's glorious. My headcanons are:

1)Zhao Yunlan installed the three treadmills in an attempt to get his agents field-ready. He could watch them sweat upstairs while he lies on the couch. It failed miserably, and the treadmills are collecting dust ever since.

2)Zhao Yunlan is also the mastermind behind the firefighter sliding pole thing in his office (I think it's called a fire pole?). My headcanon is that he did this specifically to piss off Zhao Xinci by cutting a hole in 'his' office.

LOL! Though, oh no, now I'm wondering if he got them so Lao Chu could exercise without exposing the public to ~Dixingren~, and it took him a while to accept that it wasn't necessary? /o\

That's certainly an explanation for the presence of a pole - but then Zhao Xinci would have also had the pole in his office, and I can't really see that XD. Unless the whole HQ layout has changed since then. Hmm...

In the flashback where ZXC fights with Shen Xi while bb!ZYL watches from the doorway (*sob*), I think ZXC's office is what is the exercise area in the modern-day SID. But presumably that was early on, and maybe ZXC moved into the proper chief's office later. Or maybe, yeah, ZYL rearranged the layout (and put his bikes on a gratuitous display platform)...

Oh, that's interesting I never paid attention to where the office was in that flashback or whether it was the same office ... I 100% love the idea that what's now ZYL's office was a storage room during ZXC's time, and ZYL specifically made it his office because, well, fire pole! :D

(It's always been my headcanon that the SID office is an old converted firestation - I feel like that fits well with the architecture - but it's very true that ZXC in an office with a fire pole is very "does not compute". *g*)

I can't think of a favourite headcanon right now, but I love the wall of clocks, and one of these days I'm going to figure out something to do with it in fic ... it's so delightfully weird with the way they all show entirely unrelated times!
