Picspam: Zhu Hong & Lin Jing!

This is our introduction to their dynamic in episode 1. Lin Jing is tearing his hair out, analysing some evidence, and Zhu Hong mischievously feeds him a dried fish and then concern trolls him: "Do you dare to steal deputy chief's food? He definitely won't spare you once he gets back."





In episode 2, Lin Jing, Wang Zheng and Zhu Hong are hanging out in the lab, watching the footage Lin Jing took of the Envoy. Chu Shuzhi storms in to complain about Guo Changcheng and makes them delete the footage. Once he leaves, they all snicker.



Episode 2 again. Zhu Hong, Lin Jing and Zhao Yunlan are watching Li Qian in hospital and realise that not only is her pendant the Longevity Dial, but she's under attack.



In episode 4, Lin Jing and Da Qing are in the lab, and Lin Jing is giving up on finding any leads from the face-stealer crime scene evidence. Zhu Hong comes in and bullies him into taking the case seriously.





Same scene, Da Qing invites Lin Jing to go get something to eat, but Zhu Hong pushes Lin Jing back into his seat, not letting him off the hook.



The sting, later in episode 4. Zhu Hong is all dressed up; Lin Jing is watching (and sniggering) from the lab.





Episode 8: Zhu Hong, Da Qing and Lin Jing giggling over the sex doll.



After the trip to the mountains, in episode 11, Zhu Hong leans against Lin Jing's desk and gossips. (I love how her style has changed to echo Zhao Yunlan's leather jackets a little bit.) Lin Jing explains how the Longevity Dial works.

ZH: I'm more confused after your explanation.
LJ: That's normal. A snake's pineal gland is smaller than a human's.
ZH: *rolls her eyes and clenches her fist threateningly*





Zhu Hong is hypnotised by Zheng Yi in episode 12, and she fights Lao Chu. Lao Chu pushes her against a tree, and Lin Jing moves in to sedate her. Afterwards, Lin Jing piggybacks her back to the SID, where he gently lays her on the experimentation bed and checks her with his dark energy detector.



And then, at the start of episode 13, the two of them help to restrain a similarly hypnotised and maddened Da Qing.



Lin Jing takes Zhu Hong to Sha Ya's gig in episode 26, where Zhu Hong teases him. "Hey, what are you thinking? Why did you bring a girl to listen to your love sing?" and Lin Jing explains he doesn't want to seem desperate.





Zhu Hong reacts very strongly to Lin Jing being ousted from the SID in episode 30. She hits his arm and says, "When did you become so obedient?! You leave just because he told you to?!" And then glares at Zhao Yunlan and threatens him with Shen Wei's disapproval, before stomping away to see Lin Jing off.

So -- what do you think of their friendship? Do you like the dynamic? Have you ever shipped them romantically? (I spent my first viewing half-expecting them to be friends-to-lovers by the end, because coming from other media, I interpreted Zhu Hong's teasing and threatening as pigtail-pulling.) That’s such a great intro! I really love their teasing friendship. She trolls him and pulls his ear, he makes fun of her when she dresses up, but she's also the one he takes with him when he wants to take someone to Sha Ya's performance, and she's loudest at defending him when Zhao Yunlan fires him. They're great!

(That last bit with her defending him is my favourite for them. She's so hurt and angry and protective! And he can't tell her the truth. I'm a bit sad we didn't get to see a reunion between them after Lin Jing leaves the Ministry, so she could have punched him for that. *g*)

(Speaking of reunions we didn't get to see: after Lin Jing gets out of Ye Zun's stomach! They really should have had a moment then ...)

It's mostly off-screen. The show's focus is on Zhao Yunlan trying to flip Zheng Yi and Tan Xiao.

thank you for the pic spam--I was a little slow to love Lin Jing, but he is so adorably susceptible to proffered kindness even when half the time, in this group, it turns out to be a joke at his expense. How can you not love that? He never stops believing
