I read this fic on AO3 and loved it! I'm behind (as usual) on commenting, but I especially enjoyed the connections between Zhao Yunlan and Dragon City--it reminded me of the Fisher King myth cycle with the idea of connection/identity between the land and the king. But then placing it in the context of ZYL as a city witch, and the reassuring nature of ZYL's approach to Longcheng, gave it a more feminine cast imho, which was doubly welcome and intriguing.

Also, yay for sexytimes with Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei!!!

Yeah, land magic generally was a big influence on how I wrote this particular take on ZYL's city witch connection. Some of that's because I was doing a challenge to hit specific tags, and if I leaned into the land-connection I could do more interesting roleswap-y stuff with ZYL being possibly quasi-immortal due to his connection with Longcheng. :) I hadn't been directly thinking of the Fisher King, but you're absolutely right to see a connection there!
