Just Cared Too Much - Guardian Ending Theme Song

In reading the lyrics, I can't figure out if this was sung by ZYL about SW, or SW about ZYL. In many ways, I guess they are interchangeable though I'm thrown off by references to "one year has past" and "walking the streets", "letting the hustle bustle continue", which seem to imply
1) post-deaths: one of them has reincarnated (?), living in either Haixing or Dixing, and is pining for his lost love.
Or,
2) pre-deaths: this is SW during that long 10,000 year period waiting to meet Kunlun again as promised (ref cdrama).

Any thoughts? Sorry if someone has already asked this in earlier threads!

I think it depends on when the ending song was recorded! We know "We Won't Be Falling" was recorded early on in the production, hence why it's such a high calibre song when the production later fell to budget cuts. Was it before or after they altered the ending? In the original ending, they planned for Zhao Yunlan to walk the streets of Dixing's post-Shen Wei's death, building a school and waiting to meet the twins' reincarnations. In that context, I would read that line as Zhao Yunlan about Shen Wei :)

On the other hand 2) is also an option!

They're really just two sides of the same coin with their time loop and mirrored situations asldghagshagjlh <3

That's true! If the ending theme song was recorded for the original ZYL/school/kids ending, it would fit well with that narrative. Haha, regardless, the tragic sentiment holds either way. I love the time-loop/mirroring too!

Well, actually, reading the lyrics again (edited post: added the YT link for ref), the song references the "sunlight is just like that day" but "plainly some other day", so this song was "sung" post-deaths. So, it would be from either one of them - SW "reincarnated" and missing ZYL, or ZYL alive and missing SW (presumably for the original school ending).
