Guardian: on-screen text transcript/translations
Spawned off this discussion in the resources poll, now more-properly posted for better reference: transcripts and rough translations of various on-screen texts in the show!
Usual caveats as with all translations that these are not the only valid interpretations (especially for more ancient/poetic texts), and specifically in context of Guardian there's also some discrepancies from before/after show lore changes – I'll note these accordingly where relevant.
Zhao Yunlan's SID personnel file

Some of the text is unreadably blurred even going frame-by-frame (marked in square brackets/italics below), let me know if anyone manages to galaxy-brain-decipher it.

Equipped with a dark energy gun that is capable of restraining all dark energy and thus the nemesis of Dixingren. Family well-off since young; father is previous SID chief and current Xingdu Bureau director Zhao Xinci. Mother was an ordinary housewife, and was killed during a particular case ten years ago; he has thus been on bad terms with his father for a long time.
Appears cynically frivolous on the surface; in reality coolly decisive, strict and fair in handling matters, [unreadable] leader.
Notes:
- Dixingren is originally 地界人/Dijieren in the line about the gun (visible in the first shot).
- The data fields beside his photo are in order 资料编号/file number, 姓名/name, 年龄/age (28), 性别/gender, 身份证件/identity card number, 电话/phone, 地址/address (龙城市龙岗花园B座四号楼, I think), 工作单位/unit (SID).
Zhao Yunlan Shen Wei's self-reflection letter

The text is mostly too blurred to read coherently, between the 小楷 thin brushstrokes and the camera focus, so I've just included some highlights:
- Title: 检讨书 / Self-Reflection Letter
- Opening address: 尊敬的 高劲风（部长） / To the esteemed Gao Jingfeng (Minister) [Gāo Jìngfēng, with tone markers]
- Page 2, line 4: […]的根本原因是因为本人对大人不尊重。/ […] the root cause of which is my lack of respect for others.
- Page 2, line 5-6: […]没有认识到现在找一份合适的工作是多么的难得。/ […] failing to realise how difficult it is to find a suitable job these days.
- Page 2, bullet #2: 认真克服生活懒散、粗心大意的缺点，[…] / To seriously tackle my shortcomings of indolence and carelessness, […]

The Record of Ancient Secrets (aka: the Kunlun text)

Partly taken from the novel. Also, y'know what I said above about ancient and/or poetic texts? Yeah, consider this both. Ye Olde Language plus mythological references and all; take with the necessary grains of salt.

俞蒙 书俗说天地开辟，人丁流离。有名黑袍者举于当世，振臂而呼，四海景从，除乱以安天下，天命人归，万民悦服，天禄永终。
四柱镇四方，西北天倾，昆仑封字，曰：未老已衰之石，未冷已冻之水，未生已死之身，未灼已化之魂。此皆不可成之事，封之以不可抵之地，以为四圣，天不落，地不陷，则四圣不出，天下遂安。

Record of Ancient Secrets
Year Yiyou, Ninth Month
Written by Yu MengIt is said that when the world first began, mankind wandered lost. A black-robed figure rose up in this time, with a sweeping call to arms, and the whole world followed inseparably, quelling chaos to bring peace to the lands, as wished by heaven and people alike; the masses rejoiced in adoration, fortune lasting for the ages.
Four pillars guarded the four directions; towards the northwest the sky tilted, and Kunlun sealed the words, speaking thus: The stone frail without aging, the water frozen without cold, the body dead without living, the soul gone without burning. All things beyond possibility, sealing the land beyond reach, as the four hallows; should the sky not fall, and the land not sink, then nor shall the four hallows appear, and thus the world comes to peace.
It's not as clear in the show, but the four parts of Kunlun's line each refer to one Hallow based on novel lore: the sundial (its base is a shard of the 三生石 stone – chapter 12), the awl (…blanking on the association for this right now…), the brush (carved from a branch of the basically-dead Merit Tree – chapter 73), and the lantern (essentially created from Kunlun sacrificing himself – chapter 78).
Also, various mythological bits – the opening phrase is a reference to Chinese creation myths (hello, Pangu), the northwest-sky-falling apparently from 山海经/Shan Hai Jing… and probably other things I'm missing.
Other notes:
- The book is printed in traditional characters, appropriately enough.
- vs the novel: Only the second paragraph is from the novel (though the preceding parts are about Nuwa instead). Hilariously, a typo in chapter 70 where the full text appears (为冷 instead of 未冷) got carried over verbatim to the show's book prop XD
- vs Zhu Hong's recording in ep 21: In line with the other show lore changes, the body and soul lines are replaced – it's "the tree rotted without living, the gold/metal gone without burning" (未生已朽之木，未灼已化之金) instead. Also, the "sealing the land beyond reach" line is removed from the version heard in the hospital, but later in ZYL's flat you can still hear the first word of it right before SW stops the recording.

If you feel like it - there's the bulletin board at the SID in episode 16 (30:41), and I always wondered what all that text said. Not that all of it is visible on screen, but some of it is clearly shown. Caps:

Oh I am absolutely gonna take a closer look at this later – just peeked now and (as if ZXC's expression wasn't hilarious enough by itself) the first page documents their failings… including their chief pretending to be mind-controlled, and everyone having barbecue and beer in the office…… XD

That's really interesting about the Record of Ancient Secrets and the connection to the novel. I always wondered if the text was taken from the novel.
I love the self-criticism. Oh, Shen Wei! I feel like he enjoyed writing that. :D

and the self-reflection letter is great. I wonder how much of it is Shen Wei with tongue in cheek... (at least 经常和同事加强沟通 is certainly what he has in mind for various values of 沟通, a new word for me thank you).
