520 Day Reverse Exchange: 2022 round coming soon!

The Annual Interdimensional Haixing-Dixing 520 Day Reverse Exchange is coming back for 2022!

520 sounds like "I love you" in Mandarin, so May 20th is a bit like Valentine's Day, and for the fourth year running, we're celebrating. As the name says, this is a reverse exchange: instead of making your request and that request being assigned to a writer/artist/fanwork creator, here:

1. You sign up with the kinds of things you enjoy creating.
2. You choose three writers/artists/fanwork creators based on anonymised ads.
3. You make a request of each of them based on what they enjoy creating.
4. You are assigned one request to create for, based on your offer.
5. You receive a gift from one of the creators you chose.

(An updated rules/info post will go up before sign-ups open, but here is last year's for reference.)

This year's schedule

Sign-ups part 1 - offers: Saturday 19 March - Friday 25 March
Sign-ups part 2 - requests: Saturday 26 March - Friday 01 April
Matching: Saturday 02 April - Tuesday 05 April
Assignments out: Wednesday 06 April at the latest
Deadline: Friday 13 May
Work reveals: Friday 20 May (there is no anon period)

I actually just took a peek in the !event tag to find last year's request and offer format to ease my mind ^^;; It seems like a good way to do an exchange though - since you offer what you want to write first rather than tailoring your preferences entirely to someone else's.

sounds good! I'm glad there's a week for sign ups, I will probably take forever to get mine looking good (the "oh I forgot about--" is real ^^;;)

Can I ask how fast offers got three requests and vanishing from the doc last year? My main remaining worry is that if the doc goes up sometime when I'm not awake or at work that I might get online hours later and discover that everything left doesn't suit me!

Oh, honestly I can't remember, sorry. There does tend to be a bit of a rush at the beginning, but I think there was at least a 24 hour window before things started to thin out too much, and it might have been a little longer.

A 24 hour window certainly sounds like enough time to me, and as long as there are a few drama offers to pick from I can probably find something that suits me. I just get nervous!!

Yeah, that's one of the things I like about it, you're getting someone who actually asks for the things you really want to write (or otherwise create). And you don't have to throw prompts into the void, you can pick something from someone's offer and say "this! I want THIS." :D

FWIW, some people write very detailed offers and others prefer something shorter, but I fall on the detailed side myself. *g*
