True! There are a few other people who don't react -- like Teacher Zhang in episode 3 doesn't seem surprised or freaked out by Wang Yike's power and knows enough to buy her gloves. But yeah, in general, I think you're right. General awareness of the possibility of Dixingren wouldn't have faded away in just a couple of decades, and there has to be a reason the SID is hush hush. :-)
