[Twitter | Carrd]
We are looking for artists, writers, and merch artists!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is a zine?
A: A zine in this case is a fandom collaborative project where Guardian writers and artists get together to produce a book containing both fics and art!
Q: What are the production specs of the zine?
A: This zine will be available in both a physical book and a digital PDF. The digital PDF will be released for free, while the physical book is pay-for-production, meaning that buyers pay the cost of printing plus shipping.
Q: Is this zine for the novel or the show?
A: Due to the major differences between the novel and the show, this zine will only feature the 2018 TV drama!
Q: What content can I make for the zine?
A: We have an SFW section (physical + digital) and an NSFW section (digital only). All characters and almost all ships are allowed!
Q: Do I need a Discord account to apply?
A: No, we can discuss details over email as well!
Q: What are the requirements for artists?
A: Artists are expected to produce 1 fully-rendered piece in any 2D media e.g. digital art, traditional art (please scan in 300 dpi), cosplay photograph (please follow local regulations!), etc. specifically for the zine. This work cannot be posted anywhere until the zine is complete.
To apply, you should show us 3 of your best works as well as a portfolio.
Q: What are the requirements for writers?
A: Writers are expected to write a short fic of 500-3000 words specifically for the zine. This work cannot be posted anywhere until the zine is complete.
To apply, you should show us 3 of your best works (one of which should be for the Guardian fandom) as well as a portfolio.
Q: What is the schedule like?
A: Applications are open from 10 Jul to 01 Aug, and results will be released on 10 Aug. You will receive an email informing you of your application status regardless of whether you were accepted or rejected. If accepted, you will need to submit your concept by 15 Aug, and then we will check in with you every 3-4 weeks to confirm that you don't have any issues finishing in time. The final piece will be due on 22 Nov and pre-orders will begin in Dec.
Have more questions? Feel free to drop us a question on CuriousCat (anon allowed) or leave a comment under this post!
Or apply now! Artists, writers, and merch artists have separate forms. Please fill in the relevant forms for all the positions you wish to apply for!

Color me curious - which ships are excluded?

I've seen all kinds of tags on AO3 so I would rather be safe and say that "almost all" ships are allowed!
