Summary: Zhang Shi rested the tips of his chopsticks on the rim of his bowl and looked up solemnly. Yunlan’s eyes flashed golden. “Ten thousand years ago, Lord Ma Gui charged me with two missions. The first was to find Zhao Yunlan, the Lord of the Guardians, and tell him the cost of using the Guardian Lantern, so he could commit himself to the Hallows in full knowledge. The second—” He clenched his jaw, determined. “The second was to bring him back afterwards.”
