it makes me wonder if instead of wreaking bloody revolution, Sang Zan would have been better off setting her up in charge of her tribe with himself as trophy husband/advisor

Oooh, now that's an interesting idea! That would be a really cool AU premise. (If, you know, anyone was writing Wang Zheng fic. *g*)

Her malicious delight in cutting Lin Jing's bonus never fails to make me giggle, it gives the impression that she has strict standards and expects the SID to live up to them, thank you very much.

Hee! Yeah, and the way she can remember the exact number of Lin Jing's infractions off the top of her head. :D

(But she still speaks out for him, nevertheless.)

It seems as if, explicitly or implicitly, she and Sang Zan have agreed that the awful traumas of their previous relationship have been cancelled out by the interim deaths and empillarment (?) and that they now have a clean slate to work on and can just be happy and in love

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. And since resentment and anger and vengeance are such important thematic strands in the drama, this almost has to be read as a comment on that, doesn't it? I think you're right that they're able to because they've found each other again, and now no one is keeping them apart - but also, even back in the day they never seemed to blame each other much, even though there could easily have been a lot of bitterness from both sides ...

But (although I can never keep track of the chronology of who joined the SID when) Chu Shuzhi must have had to learn the same things at some point, and it's affecting to imagine the two of them quietly working it out together.

I don't think we know who came first, but now I love the idea of Wang Zheng learning from ZYL and Da Qing, and then her helping out Chu Shuzhi!

I want to know if the red dress is supposed to symbolize a wedding dress? God that dress is beautiful, as is Wang Zheng herself.

Huh. It's not really wedding red, is it? It looks darker to me. But I don't know how far that can be stretched for the purpose of symbolism ...
