Summary: For such a rigid and inflexible man, Chief Zhao could be surprisingly capricious. Why would he send a distinguished cat like Da Qing to deal with his drunk, wayward and entirely objectionable offspring? Humans, seriously.

It's the traditional way to adopt kittens: You don't actually like humans cats, but take a pitiful little ball of fluff home for the night anyway, so it can go to a good home in the morning - and by the time morning rolls around, there is no way that adorable crearture is leaving. Ever again. ;-)

I was wondering how Da Qing and Zhao Yunlan might have come to live together, and this is the headcanon that resulted. :-) I'm very glad you enjoyed the story - thank you for letting me know!! :-)
